Dominic the Italian Donkey song and video Dominick the Donkey is a well known Christmas song written by Ray Allen and Lou Monte and first sung by Lou Monte in 1960. For decades the song was only occasionally heard. Oldies 103.3 WODS of Boston, Massachusetts and WCBS-FM in New York are common stations that play the song around Christmas . It was perceived to be too novel for the softer music stations and too old or corny for CHR/Top 40 stations. But beginning in the early 1990's, more contemporary artists began to record Christmas music. As a result, younger skewing radio stations began to feature more Christmas music on their stations, even going wall to wall on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. While there were more Top 40 core artists doing Christmas music by 1992, the stations still needed to play older artists to supplement the newer Christmas music. A few stations found this song and began mixing it into their Christmas rotations. The song got very positive feedback and as a result, this song began to gain airplay in many formats. Many people assume it was a recent recording and do not realize this song has been around for over 40 years.

Here are 2 italian songs from the 1970 LP, "We Made It Happen". "Love For Love" (Ciao, My Love) from the San Remo Festival and the classic "Just Say I Love Her". The latter has been recorded by just about every italian singer out there in both italian and english. Of course I feel Engelbert did the best version. In his career, Engelbert has recorded many italian songs. "Il Mondo", "A Man Without Love", "The Way It Used To Be", "Our Song" and "Cafe". just to name a few. He has even been known to sing a few bars of "La Luna Mezzo Mare" in concert. (The crowd eats it up when he does that!) He has even sung a verse of his classic "Am I That Easy To Forget" in italian in concert. I guess that's why the italian's (like myself) love him so much. You would swear he has some italian blood in him. (LOL) He has even referred to himself as "Engelberto Humperdinckolino" (what's in a name, huh?) He has always given the italian singers a run for their money. ENJOY!!

EH PAISANS!! Here are a couple of classic italian songs from The Gaylords 1958 Mercury LP, "Let's Have A Pizza Party". The first is the instrumental "Sicilian Tarantella" and the second is the Carlo Buti classic, "La Romanina". Burt Bonaldi handles the lead vocal on this one and it is by far my favorite version. The vocal blending of Burt along with his partner the late Ronnie Friedianelli was truly incredible. It made for some of the finest italian recordings ever! So pour a glass of vino and enjoy!!

The idea behind Caruso 2001 is actually not new. In the early '30s, RCA rerecorded some of the legendary tenor's acoustic recordings with newly added orchestral accompaniments, to rather crude results. With today's computer know-how, one can carry out this concept with infinitely more finesse and musicality, as the present release proves. What we have are some of Caruso's most famous and memorable sides, with the voice's overtones pretty much intact, minus the shellac surface noise. Likewise, the blatty orchestras are virtually rubbed out, replaced here in new performances by the Vienna Radio Symphony. It's amazing how accurately conductor Gottfried Rabl pinpoints accompaniments around Caruso's very personalized rubatos. In fact, Rabl sometimes anticipates the singer's special effects rather than reacts to them. The basic problem is that you don't get a tangible sense of Caruso's projection. READ THE DESCRIPTION: The rock band was forced to play in playback during an italian tv show about football "Quelli che il Calcio". So Muse decided to exchange their instruments and positions. The singer became a drummer, the drummer sang and played bass, and the guy who usually play the bass played guitar and keyboard. Nobody (in the tv show) noticed the difference. Futhermore at the end of that fantastic performance the hostess interviewed the drummer that still acting like the singer talked about his friend matthew at the drum (he his the real singer).
