The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is the preeminent mushing event in the lower 48 states. Held annually, 1000's of fans-mushers-dogs and trainers travel from around the world to Duluth Minnesota, the starting line of this grueling event. Mushing teams race for 100's of miles up and down Lake Superiors Sawtooth Mountains challenged by foreboding terrain and weather. This race is considered the premier qualifier for the Alaskan Iditarod.

We went dog sledding in Juneau as an excursion on our Royal Caribbean Serenade of the Seas cruise. The temperature on the glacier happened to be in the 70s this day making for a slower, sticky ride.

This video was taken while touring a Dog Sled Summer Camp...one of the excursions offered by Princess Cruises' Alaskan trip. I opted for this tour in Juneau on a wet day, but it was a blast nonetheless. The musher is Abbie West. I highly recommend letting her give you a ride with her adorable dogs.
