What a cool sport! Explanation below: The sport of Underwater Hockey is played worldwide by women and men. Many teams are coed since playing underwater is a great equalizer. Finesse is always the match of brute force and often wins out. Most clubs have practice twice a week for 2 hours where they work on skills and play scrimmage games amongst the club members. It's great exercise that improves cardio and flexibility, and strengthens and tones all the muscles of the body. Think of it as three-dimensional exercise where you "fly" your body like a fighter jet propelled by fins. A great way to relieve stress and a great way to leave the world behind. You really can't think of more than "where's the puck" and "when do I get my next breath". You can simulate it on land by sprinting a 50-yard dash while holding your breathe and juggling eggs. Look for a club near you and give it a try. Most clubs have gear to loan so you can try it without any cost. Aloha kāakou.

Chlorine permeates the Jim McKay Natatorium at George Mason University as more than a dozen Mason students gather for practice. They are equipped with snorkels, masks, fins and rubbery-like protective gloves, and they are wearing custom-made Mason Speedos. In the water, the co-ed team can be seen surfacing for air and diving back to the pool's bottom, strategically maneuvering the weighted puck. This is Mason underwater hockey.
