Here I show some fun, easy, useful techniques that aren't in official materials. The Striding Doublepole is a great new move. It (and the others) are new to most people and to the how-to scene but I'm reviving them from the old wood ski days. Actually, many skiers come up with them on their own because they're so stable and easy. But they often think they're skiing wrong because instructors call them mistakes or don't even mention these skills. They are still appropriate for any non-racing skier -- and even racers can use em! There hasn't been much new in classic technique in decades. These new/old ways are a breath of fresh air! It's always fun to play with rhythms. Note: It's good to practice the official basics, as shown in my other videos (and other people's), but feel free to add these goodies to your line-up. (Also, I *still* don't show the Touring Diagonal just right here -- there's more up'n'down bounce and knee flex and less pole follow-thru.) I've been studying skiing for 30 years -- this is part of my attempt to contribute to the how-to scene. I see beginners having an overly hard time. Also, I should note that Pendulum poling is a way to skip a poling stroke or to advance a cycle a half-beat -- it turns a 2-Step into a 3-Step, letting you change sides that you're doublepoling off of. We did the La Tour de Meije. We were down at the lift by 8:45am and we got down to the bottom just before dark around 7:15pm...no need for our headlamps. Full pack day as we used everything from touring skis, skins, ice axe, crampons, ski crampons, rope, food + water,harness, shovel,and more. The trip summary includes a ski down, skin across a glacier, climb up a steep couloir while roped, ski down, skin up, rappel down 100 foot cliff, and a 7500 big mountain glory decent down the face of Le Meije to the valley floor.
