This is a bunch of footage filmed in 2010-2011 driving dogs around Inuvik, Northwest Territory. The shot of the dogs trotting under the setting sun was filmed just past midnight in early May. We live on the tree line here, so a few miles north of town and you're in the tundra, and in any other direction you can go on forever through the maze of a million lakes and rivers of the Mackenzie Delta. The music is me playing a Woody Guthrie song first, followed by the Highwayman.

VIDEO SLIDESHOW - SIBERIAN HUSKY - ALASKAN MALAMUTE - GREENLAND DOG - CANADIAN ESKIMO DOG . Desde 1973 se celebra en Alaska la mítica Iditarod, la carrera de perros de trineo de 1.857 kms. en la que las diferencias entre los clasificados no se mide en minutos, ni siquiera en horas sino en días enteros. Se trata de una verdadera aventura que conmemora una auténtica gesta solidaria. En 1925, se organizó una expedición de relevos con varios tiros de perros que partió de Anchorage para recorrer los 1.087 kms. y así hacer llegar una vacuna que salvase de la muerte a los habitantes de Nome, una localidad costera donde se había declarado una epidemia de difteria. La precaria aviación de la época y un territorio inhóspito dominado por el invierno ártico no permitían llegar hasta ese lugar de otra manera que como se han movido lso hombres por ese territorio desde hace miles de años: con un trineo tirado por perros. Más de cien perros y veinte musher (conductores) se relevaron hasta el agotamiento durante cinco días hasta que un tiro exhausto de 13 perros y un musher entraron en Nome con el cargamento de vida. Iditarod, "lugar lejano", recuerda este enorme gesto de solidaridad haciendo que hombres y perros recobren su ancestral comunicación con un sólo objetivo: correr y correr para llegar a Nome.

Heat 1, Novice class Margaret River Sled Dog Masters, 2nd - 3rd July 2011 Western Australia This was Smudges 4th or 5th time running as a one dog as he had always run in teams and his first race as a one dog, Ryans second race. Smudge is a Koolie (sheep dog) from NSW 1st section is a long uphill bit, thrilled with his speed for the last section! Smudge's first race as a one dog (only had 5-6 runs as a one dog as he usually runs in a 2-4 dog team), came in 1st after the 1st heat, placed 2nd overall.

This is lifestyle and these dogs are trained to mush almost everyday, its in their disposition as working dogs. The International Pedigree Stage Stop Race made its way to Park City, Utah. The dogs and mushers were happy to be outside in the sun. In 1996 Frank Teasley, with the help of public nurse Jayne Ottman, launched the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race to showcase the beautiful state of Wyoming and to make sled dog racing more accessible to the public. In addition, the race worked to spread the word about the need for childhood immunizations—and each year the race makes a contribution to communities on the race route for childhood immunizations
