Are you ready to go on a trip with Alaskan Dog Mushers (aka Dog Sledders)? Ladies and gentlemen, what your about to view is the real deal. Dogs, husky breeds in particular, ropes, arranged perfectly and connected to a rider (ie person) on a sled (aka dog sled) and best of all, speed, nothing but pure environmentally friendly wind on your face. Speaking of the wind factor, these musher/sledder dudes love to get that wind on their face. So, as they travel miles and miles along special snow roads, these guys give the dogs (aka canines) just what they want. Exercise, healthy doggy work outs, where the cold environment happens to be perfect since these canine-critters sweat through their mouths and paws. I would assume that these mushers/sledders will soon dog mush in the tracks of a man they look up to, Lance Mackey, three-time consecutive winner of Alaskas Iditarod sled dog race. You may remember Mr. Mackey as the recent Iditarod winner (2009), where, after the win, the world champ decided to retire his lead-dog hero, a canine that came from just up the road from the mushers shown in this video. Food for thought: these guys are starting out just like many sled dog champions did, including the notorious Mackey. So to follow up on the stroller mushing I thought why not hook up my Champion Chihuahua mushing team and head on down the road, well we took off for a mile to the post office, it worked great so I set up cameras and shot a bit of how we roll ! These are ALL rescue dogs, 7-11lbs.. and YES I know harnesses are best, but this is our 2nd time and need to find a good tiny dog harness for pulling. Fun Fun in any event, cars were honking and yelling Aye Chihuahua !

Thor is our 10month old Shepherd/Husky, and his new Manmat Shoulder harness arrived yesterday courtesy of countryhounds.ie We couldn't wait to get him pulling with it! But I didn't want to run him too much at first and its on tarmac aswell... We have been trying to teach him the commands while walking and running with a canicross belt. It seems to have paid off because he took very well to changing direction in a wide open carpark, I don't think he'll have any trouble running on a trail...
