Eight goals were scored in this match - Harrow Borough beat Waltham Abbey 5-3 - but the only topic of conversation in the bar was the astounding miss by non-league legend, Rocky Baptiste. Thanks to Rocky for being a good sport in allowing me to post footage most people would have wanted to bury in the garden. I include an example of Rocky in more typical mode: scoring a goal. The five Boro' goals, and many others, can be found on the foolandhismonkey channel, right here on YouTube. (Some folks seem to be under the impression that the miss and the goal come from the same match. I would like to clarify that the miss is from the Waltham Abbey match on 28/11/2009, and came just as second-half injury time began, with Boro' already leading 5-3; the goal was scored in a 5-1 win in the FA Trophy 1Q replay against Soham Town Rangers on 20/10/2009, and was the first of Rocky's brace that night. I included the goal as an example of Rocky's capabilities, because although the miss is funny, I thought it only fair to show why he is so respected in football. Other examples of Rocky's goals are available on the foolandhismonkey channel - the injury time free-kick against Wealdstone is like Beckham v Greece! A goal from their own half, and a terrific free kick gave the visitors a great platform, and they added two more very good goals before Borough's spirited fightback began. Danny Leech and Joshua Thomas gave Harrow hope, but the victory went to Lowestoft. Apologies for some focus issues in the video; I hope it does not detract from your enjoyment of some fine football.

Boro' welcomed QPR to Earlsmead for their first friendly of the 2011/12 season, and the first game of Dave Anderson's tenure as Harrow manager. QPR won 1-0, thanks to a fabulous free-kick, scored by Pa Saikou Kujabi. This video shows the goal, but I will post more highlights from the match in the near future. Here are seven goals from Albert for the misty-eyed faithful at Boro', and his new fans at Barnet. The strikes came in games against Carshalton, Northwood, Carshalton again, Ramsgate, Heybridge, and Margate. Just a brief word on the last two goals in the sequence, in case you are wondering why everyone was getting so excited: Margate had been 3-1 up, but the two goals from Albert were the ones that brought us level and put us ahead; unfortunately, a late (clear) penalty would give Margate a share of the points. And yes, that is Steve Claridge with an assist...

I almost took the afternoon off from filming; I'm glad I didn't. Heybridge had beaten Boro' 4-0 at Scraley Road earlier in the season, but on 5th January 2008, the Reds made amends... The game finished with 19 players on the pitch - one sent off for each side, and Heybridge losing a further man to injury after all of their substitutions had been made. Albert Adomah probably played his last game for Harrow, signing off with a goal, before joining Dagenham and Redbridge. He leaves us with some fine memories, and we all wish him well in the Football League.

Following an crazy week of unforeseen interest in the last clip (about an unfortunate miss, or something), it was back to business for Harrow Borough, away at Margate. At 2-0 down, with around fifteen minutes to play in the second half, Boro' finally found a goal; an excellent run by Ryan Watts culminated with a shot/cross that Margate's number 7, Dan Stubbs, steered into his own net. Ten minutes later, substitute Jonathan Constant scored the second to give Boro' a battling point. All that was needed now was for Rocky Baptiste to net a fairy-tale winner, and the weird, wild week would have been complete. Not this time, alas. A low grandstand and 'subdued' lighting make the footage look, er, interesting... Oh, let's stop making excuses; I am just not Jack Cardiff, am I? Let's see this week's effort get 3 million views and a spot on 'Football Focus' and 'Soccer AM'! ha ha

AFC Wimbledon have kindly allowed Robin to join us at Harrow Borough for a month. The clip shows Robin's first league goal for the Reds; unfortunately, it was only the opener in a 6-2 defeat to Harlow Town. We might like to forget the game quite quickly, but here's hoping Robin does plenty to be remembered for in a long, successful career. He won't make any friends in the laundry room with all that Vick down his shirt, though... (update: the loan has been extended to February - good news. I have added a second goal to the clip - a well-taken, cool-headed effort against Staines. Unfortunately, Robin was injured later in the game; here's hoping he recovers quickly).
