I hope that in the spirit of martial brotherhood we can learn to share techniques and innovations rather than covet and hide them. Perhaps the most original form of Dumog that is still existing in Panay. The "dumog" that is commercially circulated today is already adulterated with different forms of MMA style grappling while some is patterned from curriculum-based jiujitsu forms. The techniques employed by original dumog, which like other forms of traditional martial arts, are dependent on experience and personal preference depending on the body mechanics of the subject involved. The motivation of the practitioner to be involved in dumog is relative to the culture and social realm to where the subject belongs and is not by virtue of harsh influences made by other people. Kino mutai (or kina mutai) is a specialized sub-section of some Filipino martial arts that emphasizes biting and also covers eye-gouging. It involves extensive use of grappling, so as to allow the practitioner to control the opponent while applying the techniques. Some concepts from Filipino Dumog, and its relation to Taichi, XingYi, wing chun, and jujitsu. Iam deffinately no master, and will forever be a student. Young Guro Johnathan Routis, a senior Children's Martial Art Instructor for Philippine Blackbelt (Tel: 973-777-5849) demonstrate Dumog, a Filipino martial art that utilizes takedowns. Dumog is part of The Doce Pares Multi-Style System. Johnathan has studied under the tutelage of current Doce Pares GrandMaster Arnulfo "Dong" Cuesta. Johnathan has taught alongside GM Dong for over two years helping other children learn Philippine Martial Arts. He just turned thirteen years old when this video was filmed. Philippine Blackbelt in Clifton, is an affiliate of PIMA Academy in Jersey City, USA headquarters of Doce Pares. Both are located in the State of New Jersey. Many thanks to Master Cesar Olavarria, Guro Gary Gabison, Master Val Pableo, Master Dennis and to Grand Master Arnulfo "Dong" Questa.
