The video clip was made on behalf of the IDBF (International Dragon Boat Federation) as the presentation when the IDBF became a member of GAISF (General Association of International Sport Federations) back in 2007. This has been the most watched video on Dragon Boat Net and other dragon boat websites. Still today the video functions as the official presentational film to promote dragon boating as a sport for all. Since some years have past a new movie for the IDBF is already in the making.

The festivities vary from region to region, but they usually share several features. A memorial ceremony offering sacrifices to a local hero is combined with sporting events such as dragon races, dragon boating and willow shooting; feasts of rice dumplings, eggs and ruby sulphur wine; and folk entertainments including opera, song and unicorn dances. The hero who is celebrated varies by region: the romantic poet Qu Yuan is venerated in Hubei and Hunan Provinces, Wu Zixu (an old man said to have died while slaying a dragon in Guizhou Province) in South China, and Yan Hongwo in Yunnan Province among the Dai community. Participants also ward off evil during the festival by bathing in flower-scented water, wearing five-colour silk, hanging plants such as moxa and calamus over their doors, and pasting paper cut-outs in their windows. The Dragon Boat festival strengthens bonds within families and establishes a harmonious relationship between humanity and nature. In the past 10 years dragon boating has grown from relative obscurity to 80000 participants who take part in over 100 festivals in municipalities across the country. Dragon boating is visually spectacular, easy to learn, and most importantly, extremely safe. Anyone can do it, regardless of age, gender, or athletic ability. Furthermore, it is a sport where men and women compete together in an unbiased and fun environment. For these reasons it has become an extremely popular team building activity for community organizations and corporations. The Alexandria Museum of Art is proud to bring this exciting new experience to Rapides Parish. Competitive dragon boat races always make for a fun event, very colorful and entertaining. The weather was perfect on that day, August 20, 2011; not too hot, not too cold, but just perfect! Thousands of people came to watch the boat races. For some spectators - it was a picnic day in a beautiful park by the Connecticut River. Many came to compete in a race.
