Cadet 150 Royal Review - 6 July 2010 Horseguards

On Tuesday 6th July, cadets and adult volunteers from around the UK and from the MOD's sponsored cadet forces took part in the Cadet 150 Royal Review at Buckingham Palace. Almost 1700 individuals from the MOD's 4 cadet forces, the Combined Cadet Force, Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps converged in the early afternoon at Horse Guards Parade and set off for Wellington Barracks via The Mall. Each cadet force was led by its own band and were followed up by a combined Pipe band. HRH Price Charles took the salute outside Clarence House. On arrival at Wellington Barracks the cadets were marshalled by Garrison Sergeant Major Billy Mott ready for the march to Buckingham Palace where all the cadets had been invited to attend a garden party. Go behind the scenes at Chivas USA training with goalkeeper coach Leo Percovich. Learn about his unique personality as he trains with Chivas USA goalkeepers Zach Thornton, Dan Kennedy and Lance Parker. Percovich joined Chivas USA prior to the 2008 season, and worked extensively with goalkeepers Brad Guzan, Dan Kennedy, and Zach Thornton, the three of whom combined for a goals against average of 1.37 during the season. Previously, Percovich had been with the Colorado Rapids, where he worked with 2006 Panasonic Goalkeeper of the Year finalist Joe Cannon, and later with Bouna Coundoul, who enjoyed a breakout 2007 season. Percovich also apprenticed under goalkeeper coaches throughout Europe and Latin America, including stints with club sides Real Madrid, Valencia, Stuttgart, Cruziero and Pachuca, as well as the national teams of Brazil, France, and Uruguay. As a player, Percovich made six appearances with the Uruguayan National Team during a professional goalkeeping career that included time with South American powerhouses Nacional de Montevideo (1987-1993), Atlético Mineiro (1994), Guaraní FC (1995), and Fluminense FC (1995-1999) and Alianza de Lima (2000), as well as Spanish side Racing de Ferrol (2001). While with Nacional, Percovich won the Uruguayan First Division twice, as a starter in 1991 and 1992, as well as the prestigious Copa Libertadores in 1988.

Participating US Soldiers were from USARPAC, Fort Shafter, Hawaii; 25th Infantry Division, 2-25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2-14 Cavalry, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 2nd Engineer Brigade, 6th Engineer Sapper Platoon, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska; 505th Quartermaster Battalion, Torii Station, Japan; 413th Contracting Support Brigade, Fort Shafter; and the California Army National Guard. Soldiers from India Army's 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion and 471st Engineer Brigade participated in Yudh Abhyas. This marked the eighth time the USARPAC-sponsored theater security cooperation exercise was held with the India Army. Yudh Abhyas began in 2004 and has moved from platoon-level operations to brigade and battalion-level operations. Yudh Abhyas enhanced cooperation and interoperability during training. Cultural exchanges also helped build skills necessary for peacekeeping operations. This year was the first use of the India Army field firing area in the Rajasthan desert for Yudh Abhyas.
