It is located in the north of the country, following the contours of the narrow Caracas Valley on the Venezuelan coastal mountain range (Cordillera de la Costa). The valley is close to the Caribbean Sea, separated from the coast by a steep 2200 m (7400 ft) high mountain range, Cerro Ávila; to the south there are more hills and mountains. El Distrito Metropolitano de Caracas (Metropolitan District of Caracas) includes the Distrito Capital (the capital city proper) and four other municipalities in Miranda State including Chacao, Baruta, Sucre, and El Hatillo. The city of Caracas had an estimated population of 4340076 as of 2008. More problems with the motorcycle, what do you expect after nearly 60000 miles on the road. I fix my wheels (again) and push on through Venezuela and back into Colombia completing my original dream, to visit all 23 mainland countries of North & South America. On arriving in Bogota I just need to organise a flight for me and the motorcycle to Panama City. I ride and I record. There's no editing of video's when I'm back at home, my video's are all edited on the road because I want to share my experiences as they happen, so... GLIMPSES OF VENEZUELA: On Thursday, 14 July 2011, Foreign Ministry of Venezuela organized a conducted tour for Diplomats, including Ambassadors, from Asian countries to visit a medical centre (Centro de Diagnostico Integral - CDI) operating under the "Barrio Adentro" Programme of Venezuelan Government for taking healthcare facilitties to all its citizens, particularly the underprivileged. The Cuban doctors working for the "Barrio Adentro" Programme are informing about the medical facilities available to the people. The diplomats also visited the Metro Cable (Cable Car) facility to provide an innovative transport system to the underprivileged people living under difficult conditions on the hill tops and slopes of the San Agustin Barrios in Caracas. A beautiful panoramic view of Caracas can be seen from the hill top.

Venezuela - officially titled Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Spanish: República Bolivariana de Venezuela), is a tropical country on the northern coast of South America. It is a continental mainland with numerous islands located off its coastline in the Caribbean Sea. Venezuela possesses recognized borders with Guyana to the east of the Essequibo river, Brazil to the south, and Colombia to the west. Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, St. Lucia, Barbados, Curaçao, Bonaire, Aruba, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Leeward Antilles lie just north, off the Venezuelan coast. Its size is 916445 km² with an estimated population of 26414816. Its capital is Caracas. The colors of the Venezuelan flag are yellow, blue and red, in that order: the yellow stands for land wealth, the blue for courage, and the red for independence from Spain. A former Spanish colony, which has been an independent republic since 1821, Venezuela holds territorial disputes with Guyana, largely concerning the Essequibo area, and with Colombia concerning the Gulf of Venezuela. In 1895, after the dispute over the Essequibo river border flared up, it was submitted to a "neutral" commission (composed of United Kingdom, USA and Russian representatives and without a direct Venezuelan representative), which in 1899 decided mostly against Venezuela's claim.[4] Venezuela is known widely for its petroleum industry, the environmental diversity of its territory, and its natural features. This is a little video of a two day trip to see Salto Angel in Paque Nacional Canaima, Venezuela. We flew from Caracas to Puerto Ordaz and then boarded a small 12 passenger plane to fly into the base camp at Canaima. We had a short hike to get onto the long wooden boats where our guide took us up river for about 5-6 hours. When we got to Angel Falls we hiked through the jungle, up the mountain to get to the base of the incredible view. After some time there, we hiked back to the river where we set up camp for the night. After a rainy night sleeping near the thundering falls we ate some breakfast and got back on our boat to head down river. We stopped near base camp and set up for the night. Before bed we went on a hike to see Salto El Sapo (Frog Falls) and were able to walk underneath of it, which is arguably the neatest thing I have done in my life. Image walking about 300 yards in pitch black, cold water hitting your face at about 50-60mph and so loud you can not hear yourself scream! The only thing from the small slippery natural walkway to separate you from certain death was a water logged rope laying on the ground. And we walked under barefoot too. After a short hike back to camp we ate dinner and slept for the night. The last day we boarded the boat again and went to the base camp at Canaima Airport and flew back to Puerto Ordaz and than Caracas. If you are ever in the area, do this trip of a lifetime. This video does no justice.
