Port El Kantaoui is a tourist complex 10 kilometres north of Sousse in central Tunisia. It is popular with package holiday visitors, families and first time visitors, however its extensive landscaping and detachment from the true Tunisia brings critics; most notably the Rough Guide has described Port El Kantaoui as "Tunisia without tears ... artificial, soulless, even anaemic".[2] Sousse (Arabic: سوسة Sūsa‎, Berber: Susa) is a city in Tunisia. Located 140 km south of the capital Tunis, the city has 173047 inhabitants (2004). Sousse is in the central-east of the country, on the Gulf of Hammamet, which is a part of the Mediterranean Sea.
