The Glacier Express is an express train connecting railway stations of the two major mountain resorts of St. Moritz and Zermatt in the Swiss Alps. The train is operated jointly by the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) and Rhaetian Railway (RhB). For much of its journey, it also passes along and through the World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes. The train is not an "express" in the sense of being a high-speed train, but rather, in the sense that it provides a one-seat ride for a long duration travel. In fact it has the reputation of being the slowest express train in the world.[1] As St. Moritz and Zermatt are home to two well-known mountains, the Glacier Express is also said to travel from Piz Bernina to Matterhorn. The Glacier Express first ran in 1930. Initially, it was operated by three railway companies: the Brig--Visp--Zermatt Bahn (BVZ), the Furka Oberalp Bahn, and the RhB. Since 2003, the train has been operated by RhB and a newly established company, the MGB, which arose from a merger between the BVZ and the FO. The trip on the Glacier Express is a 7½ hour railway journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass on the highest point at 2033 m (6670 ft) in altitude. The entire line is metre gauge (narrow gauge railway), and large portions of it use a rack-and-pinion system both for ascending steep grades and to control the descent of the train on the back side of those grades. In Samedan, a beautiful village in Swiss Engadin, decorating your house exterior is an art. The "scratches" on the walls are true artwork, named Sgraffito. Samedan has many ancient Engadiner mansions showing off this art form, so a walk through the streets and alleys is a rewarding cultural experience. We meet Peter Buzzetti who shows us the tricks of the sgraffito trade. The practice typically passes from father to son and with Peter this was no exception. Besides designing the various motifs you need a lot of material knowledge. And chromatics is another field you need to master. The various colours are mixed until the right coating and structures are found. A number of basic substances meanwhile are on the forbidden list but Peter has a special permit that allows him to work with them. It is a bit like stucco but different. After applying the stucco there is less than an hour to talk about life. Sgraffito is the art of scratching - but it has to be right the first time. The hour has passed, the material has hardened and the demonstration on the flat table starts. Naturally Peter normally carries out these activities directly on the walls of the Engadiner houses. The Collegiate Church of St. Gallen (actually St. Gallus and Otmar) is a Roman Catholic church in the city of St. Gallen in Switzerland. It serves the diocese of St. Gallen as a cathedral, and was since its construction from 1755 to 1766 until 1805 the church of the Abbey of St. Gall. The interior of the Cathedral is one of the most important baroque monuments in Switzerland. The Library at the Abbey is one of the richest medieval libraries in the world. Since 1983 the Church and the Library are an UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site.

We enjoyed 40km of down hill cycling from Pso del Bernina to Tirano. We stopped the RhB's monumental roop bridge in Burusio on the way to Tirano. We went back to St.Moritz by RhB Train that is one of world heritage. We carried our bike by the train without packing. That was so easy.
