De la colombie à Panama en passant par les San Blas (Kuna Yala) Les îles San Blas du Panama constituent un archipel de 365 îlots coralliens, dont seuls 60 sont habités, situé dans la mer Caraïbe, sur la côte nord-est de l'isthme du Panama, où vivent de chasse et de pêche les indiens Kunas, dans un territoire, qui forme, avec la bande côtière, la "comarca Kuna Yala", territoire disposant d'une forte autonomie depuis la guerre d'indépendance menée par ces indiens contre le Panama dans les années 1920, même s'ils parlent pour la plupart espagnol. Les indiens Kunas ont peu à peu quitté la terre ferme du Panama durant l'invasion espagnole, en particulier lors des recherches d'or le long de la rivière Atrato, où vivent encore quelques tribus de l'etnie Kuna, repliées dans la montagne. Le premier gouverneur du Panama, Balboa, s'était marié avec la fille dun chef Kuna qui l'avait aidé à traverser listhme. La société Kuna est matriarcale et monogame avec des familles qui comptent de 2 à 6 enfants. L'archipel a environ 50.000 habitants. les femmes continuent à perpétuer la tradition avec leur blouse colorée ornée de dessins à thèmes, riches en couleurs, utilisant la technique de l'appliqué-inversé, les fameux molas. Les indiens Kunas ont des députés à lassemblée nationale panaméenne et en 1999 un Kuna a été élu président de cette assemblée nationale. bit.ly A few weeks ago I rode my motorcycle to the top of Volcan Baru the tallest peak in Panama. I took a serious beating on the ride, and got some great video out of it. I wanted to do a ride from sea level to the top of Panama, so I started at the beach and filmed my ride to the top. It was exhausting, and horrible, and everything an adventure should be. For this series of videos I wanted to do something special, something different so I have created an iPad book. The book has a bunch of photos, and 7 different videos with a combined length of over 70 minutes. Since it's a book I was able to fill in the gaps between the videos and give more detail about what's happening and what I was feeling. I'm really happy with they way it turned out. I've been asked a lot about DVD's of my videos, or a book about my adventures. Well this is both. You get to read about the trip, see the photos, and watch the videos all in one place. Once it's downloaded you don't need to wait for video to buffer before watching them it's all there you just hit play and it goes. Really if you have ever wanted to come along on one of my rides this is the closest you will get without flying to Panama and renting a bike. I keep calling it a book because I don't know another name for it. It's more like a mini adventure and you get to come along for the ride. I'm very excited about it, it looks great on the iPad. Time lapse photography of the various places around Panama, including the Panama Canal operation, Punta Paitilla, Avenida Balboa and Casco Viejo. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the country of Panama. Technical info: The time lapse photos were captured using two Canon G11 cameras using CHDK firmware, which adds custom timer capability. The time from one shot to the other varies from 3 to 8 seconds depending on the scene. This series took nearly 10000 images to create. The images are then imported into Adobe Lightroom 3.0 for post processing and then exported into 1080p format using a custom TL HD video export for LR. The video suffered little quality loss when downsized to 720p which is the maximum Youtube allows. This took many hours and patience from my wife to create. Enjoy :)

Albrook mall in Panama City, Panama. Is a pretty cool place to kill a day shopping. It looks like there are around 450 different stores all under one roof, and they are adding space for another 110 retail stores, as well as a desperately needed parking garage. I've heard there are plans to add a few hotels nearby too. I like to stop for a visit anytime I'm in the Panama City area, but I rarely buy anything other than food. Recorded December 14, 2010: It was not a very nice day during my visit to Panama City. It was completely overcast with occasional light rain. The video begins as the Island Princess drops anchor off the coast of Panama City in Puerto Amador. On my first tour of the day we drive through Indpendent Plaza and the rapidly growing downtown area with its many high-rise buildings. We then pay a visit to Old Panama. In the afternoon I drive through the former US military base and once again drive through the downtown area. Nearby is a small video store, and across the street is the Deli Baru and a small public market.
