Nicest pictures Etosha National Park Namibia
Duration : 516 Seconds

Etosha National Park is one of Southern Africa's finest and most important Game Reserves. Etosha Game park was declared a National Park in 1907 and covering an area of 22 270 square km, it is home to 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and, surprisingly, one species of fish. Etosha, meaning "Great White Place", is dominated by a massive mineral pan. The pan is part of the Kalahari Basin, the floor of which was formed around 1000 million years ago. The Etosha Pan covers around 25% of the National Park. The pan was originally a lake fed by the Kunene River. However the course of the river changed thousands of years ago and the lake dried up. The pan now is a large dusty depression of salt and dusty clay which fills only if the rains are heavy and even then only holds water for a short time. This temporary water in the Etosha Pan attracts thousands of wading birds including impressive flocks of flamingos. The perennial springs along the edges of the Etosha Pan draw large concentrations of wildlife and birds. (Wikipedia) In this presentation you see my niciest animal-photografs.

Namibia to South Africa: Goats transported for 36 hours
Duration : 479 Seconds

DID YOU KNOW? The stress of transit commonly brings on Pasturella, a respiratory disease that causes goats to cough violently before they die. TAKE ACTION: www.handlewithcare.tv Every week as many as 15000 goats are packed into trucks to make the 2300 kilometre journey from Namibia to South Africa. They suffer the full 36-hour journey without anything to eat or drink, and may have lacked food, water or shelter for many hours before being loaded. With searing temperatures regularly exceeding 40 centigrade, many animals die from dehydration. Others die from respiratory diseases. They remain packed against the live animals until unloading. Those that survive the journey may have sustained serious injuries as a result of poor driving or have been blinded by dust from the roads. It doesn't have to be like this. Across Africa, live transportation should be replaced with a trade in chilled or frozen meat from animals humanely slaughtered close to home. National rules for the transport and handling of animals should be developed, inspired by World Organisation for Animal Health guidelines.

SA Celebs Speak out against the Namibian Seal "Hunt"
Duration : 67 Seconds

As part of the Anti-Sealing Day observed worldwide on 15 March 2011, a press conference was held in Johannesburg to create awareness of the annual massacre of around 85 000 nursing seal cubs in Namibia. Organisations involved: Fur Free, Beauty Without Cruelty, Sea Shepherd, PETA and others At the end of the press conference, the following boycott announcement was made by Anneke Brits, Chairperson of Fur Free SA: "On this day, the 15th of March 2011, celebrated worldwide as Anti-Sealing Day, Fur Free, Beauty Without Cruelty, Sea Shepherd and our international partners are announcing the official launch of a boycott campaign against Namibia. This campaign, dubbed Seals of Nam, will continue until the annual seal massacre is permanently ended. We would like to stress that we love our sister country Namibia, and that it pains us to take any adverse action against it. We hope and pray that the leaders of Namibia will see the folly of the seal slaughter, and will take definite and immediate steps to end it. As Gandhi said: 'The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Visit our site for more info and ways to get involved.
