| | ROHINGYAS REFUGEES IN BANGALADESH .. Duration : 239 Seconds Denied citizenship rights and subjected to repeated abuse and forced slave labor in their ancestral homes in the Arakan/Rakhine state of Burma by a xenophobic Buddhist government, where they cannot travel, marry or practice their religion freely, and betrayed and battered by their Magh Rakhine co-residents, many Rohingya Muslims have hardly any option left for them to survive with dignity other than seeking refuge outside. The neighboring Bangladesh to the north-west with her huge Muslim population and historical ties with Chittagong and Coxs Bazar, dating back centuries earlier during the Arakanese rule of those districts (1538-1666), provides a natural setting for seeking shelter. Thus, when the Burmese genocidal campaigns Naga Min (1978-79) and Pyi Thaya (1991-92) forced eviction of some 300000 and 268000 Rohingya refugees, respectively, to seek shelter outside it was Bangladesh where they ended up Tags :VOA, BURMESE

| | Birma | Związek Myanmar (Burma) Duration : 345 Seconds Birma - (Myanmar, Mianma, Związek Birmański -- Związek Myanmar) -- państwo położone w Azji Południowo-Wschodniej, nad Zatoką Bengalską i Morzem Andamańskim. Graniczy z Bangladeszem, Indiami, Chińską Republiką Ludową, Laosem i Tajlandią. W 1988 r. Ne Win zrezygnował z władzy, lecz ta nadal pozostała w rękach wojska (m.in. wskutek unieważnienia demokratycznych wyborów w 1990 r.). Od 1992 r. na czele państwa stoi generał Than Shwe noszący oficjalny tytuł "Przewodniczący Państwowej Rady Pokoju i Rozwoju Państwa". Birma, kiedyś jeden z najzamożniejszych krajów Azji południowo-wschodniej, obecnie zalicza się do najbiedniejszych krajów świata. Głównym problemem birmańskiej ... | | 33 Duration : 600 Seconds Ifyou enjoyed this clip, please tell your friends via twitter, facebook, email, text, phone, smoke signals, chatting, sending them a postcard - shouting, perhaps? - and help spread the word about bushytrips. And don't forget to subscribe. If anyone asks, you can tell them this: the youtube bushytrips channel is a video diary that got out of hand, an idiosyncratic journey - a bummel, no less - of a well-meaning clot (me, that is) who stumbles and ambles along, backpacking his way through parts of South-East Asia and sharing the experience with the curious and the kind. You, that is... The Making Of -- Putting it simply, I went travelling around South East Asia, took my small Sony video camcorder along, filmed things, came home, edited the footage in my computer, and my youtube bushytrips channel is the result. So bushytrips is a one man project: all the job titles like producer, writer, researcher, editor, presenter, composer, etc, are mine, even though I didn't pay myself a decent wage, with ideas and suggestions coming from friends along the way. Business - If you are a manager, agent, producer, production company, programme commissioner, distribution network or something along those lines, feel free to get in touch to explore possible mutually beneficial projects and opportunities. Yes indeed. DVDs -- see the bushytrips channel for more information. Tags :
| | Gold Leaf, Myanmar by Asiatravel.com Duration : 97 Seconds Download Free $120 cash vouchers at www.asiatravel.com to offset payment at www.asiatravel.com For Bookings www.asiatravel.com For More Video: book.asiatravel.com Gold leaf is available in a wide variety of carats and shades. 23-carat gold is the most commonly used variety.[citation needed]. The traditional method of manufacturing gold leaf is a process called goldbeating. In industrialized nations, the process has been replaced with more mechanized methods. There are a variety of imitation gold leaf products available. These are used in order to avoid the high price of gold. These imitation gold, or gold-colored leafs are more accurately grouped into the broader category of metal leaf. Real yellow gold leaf is about 92% pure gold. Silver colored white gold is approximately 50% pure gold. Layering gold leaf over a surface is sometimes called gold leafing, and is a very common form of gilding. [edit] Gold leafing in art Gold leaf has traditionally been most popular and most common in its use as gilding material for the decoration of art including statues like the Chryselephantine sculpture of Ancient Greece or the 10th century Golden Madonna of Essen. Illuminated manuscripts often contained much gold and silver (the latter badly subject to oxidization). In medieval panel paintings the "sky" background area, especially in religious paintings, was conventionally made of gold leaf until more realistic conventions were adopted, first in Trecento Italy, and later in Early ... | | SAGAING Myanmar Duration : 603 Seconds On the opposite shore of the Ayeyarwady in the centre of Burma are the Sagaing Hills. The history of Sagaing dates back to the beginning of the 14th century, when the royal city of Bagan fell and the city became the new capital of Burma. However, its importance as a centre of power was short-lived, yet around 50 years later the newly founded Inwa became the capital of the Burmese Empire. More than 700 hilltop and valley monasteries have made Sagaing one of the world's most important centers of Buddhism. The Pa Ba Kyaung Monastery is situated on Sagaing's western hills and is surrounded by two elevations, a place of tranquility and meditation. Peaceful and serene, the statues and Buddha images appear to stare into the very soul of all those who come here. It is not surprising that for nearly 800 years, the region's pagodas have attracted the faithful as well as tourists from around the world.
