| | Chaakadoo Part 1 Duration : 254 Seconds A famous team from the fire-balloon festival, Taunggyi, Shanstate, Burma. In this video, i'd documented the whole process of making the fire balloon (fire-works) in 2004. Its a very dangerous job, yet people are willing to create this fireworks, including family from young to old. Its a traditional event and i personally think this is a very unique events. The preparation for this fireworks and balloon took about 3 months or more. It involved high risk because of the highly explosive thing such as gun powder. This is the yearly events and this year it will held from 24 Oct 2009 to 2 Nov 2009. There is no narration for now, i will let the images speak for them self. There are 3 parts to it. Making, Assembling and the Big night. Hope you all enjoy it. Tags :Taunggyi, Burma, Myanmar, shan, pao, Fireworks, Fire Balloon Festival, Paper Balloon, Tazaungdine, Chakadoo

| | Temples of Myanmar, Myanmar by Asiatravel.com Duration : 217 Seconds Download Free $120 cash vouchers at www.asiatravel.com to offset payment at www.asiatravel.com Buddhism in Burma (or Myanmar) is predominantly of the Theravada tradition, practised by 89% of the country's population[1] It is the most religious Buddhist country in terms of proportion of monks in the population and proportion of income spent on religion.[2] Adherents are most likely found among the dominant ethnic Bamar (or Burmans), Shan, Rakhine (Arakanese), Mon, Karen, and Chinese who are well integrated into Burmese society. Among ethnic Bamar, Theravada Buddhism is practised often in conjunction with nat worship. Monks, collectively known as the Sangha, are venerated members of Burmese society. The importance of Buddhism in the history of Burma is evident from a landscape dominated by pagodas, which is why the country is often called "the land of pagodas." There are many Burmese festivals all through the year, most of them related to Buddhism.[4] The Burmese New Year, Thingyan, also known as the water festival, has its origins in Hindu tradition, but it is also a time when many Burmese boys celebrate shinbyu , a special rite of passage by which a boy enters the ... | | The Burmese Water Festival (Thingyan) Duration : 508 Seconds Paul and Khine have fun at the Thingyan(Water Festival). In Burma/Myanmar. The Water Festival is the New Year's celebrations that take place in Southeast Asian countries such as Burma, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand as well as Yunnan, China. It is called the 'Water Festival' by Westerners because people pour water at one another as part of the cleansing ritual to welcome the new year. Traditionally people gently sprinkled water on one another as a sign of respect, but as the new year falls during the hottest month in South East Asia, many people end up dousing strangers and passersby in vehicles in boisterous celebration. The act of pouring water is also a show of blessings and good wishes and brings good luck. IT WAS AN AWSOME EXPERIENCE! a THREE day water fight! Lots of Drink. Music. and Water. Everyone was totally smashed! LOVE IT!
