Jarmoune Mohamed, a 20 year old Moroccan immigrant has been arrested as he plotted to attack a Jewish synagogue in the Italian town of Brescia in a jihad terrorist attack. Police in Italy have arrested a 20-year-old Moroccan man on suspicion of planning a terror strike on a synagogue in the city of Milan, officials said Thursday. According to officials from the Italy's counter-terrorism unit, the suspect was arrested in the northern city of Brescia, located some 60 miles east of Milan, in the early hours of Thursday. Although they did not identify the suspect by name, officials said he was a 20-year-old man of Moroccan origin who had been living in Italy since he was 6 years old. Meanwhile, some local reports citing unnamed officials identified the detained suspect as Jarmoune Mohamed. But their claims are yet to be confirmed by Italian authorities. According to official Moroccan, a suicide bomber blew himself up in a crowded coffee from the famous Jamaa El Fna in Marrakech, the big resort town, 350 km south of Rabat. This attack was fifteen killed, six French and three Moroccans and a score wounded, including seven French, according to medical sources quoted by the Moroccan public television or contacted by AFP. Rabat and Paris have condemned a terrorist act. French President Nicolas Sarkozy condemned the "terrorist attack", a "heinous act, cruel and cowardly." Paris has acknowledged that there were casualties among the French, without specifying if they were killed or wounded. In a statement to AFP, the Moroccan Minister of Communication Khalid Naciri, with branded a "terrorist act". "Morocco is facing the same threats in May 2003 and there will be face with diligence and proactive," he added. This is the deadliest attack in this North African monarchy since the attacks by Islamist extremists in Casablanca in 20O3, which killed 33 people and 12 suicide bombers. Morocco, a country of 32 million whose economy is particularly related to tourism, has been relatively unscathed by the riots that shook the Arab world since the beginning of the year. Thousands of Moroccans gathered in Marrakesh over the weekend at the site of a bomb attack on the Cafe Argana that killed 17 people on April 28. Flowers were laid in memory of the victims, who included 8 French people. The authorities say the suspected bomb disguised himself as a hippy to plant the two bombs. One protester said: "The demonstration by these people against terrorism, with candles and flowers, gives a new life to the city of Marrakesh, especially the square of Jmaa al-Fnaa" ... www.euronews.net

Terrorist bombings in Morocco, Algeria and across North Africa begin the Algerian War and force France to mobilize their army troops in an attempt to stop the increased violence. In January 1955 a terrorist bombing in market of Casablanca exploded killing 18 and injuring 30 more. The bomb was planted by the terrorist group the National Liberation Front or FLN.
