Barcelona is important to Picart's history because it is a city steeped in deep and rich traditions of artistic achievement - it was, for example, Picasso's first stop on his road to fame.

Moraca Monastery Moraca is a Serbian Orthodox monastery located in the valley of the Mora?a river in central Montenegro. It is one of the most monumental orthodox Middle Age monuments in Montenegro. It was founded in 1252 by Stefan, son of Vukan Nemanji?, king of Zeta, the grandson of Stefan Nemanja in 1252. This is written above the western portal. It consists of an assembly church, devoted to the Assumption of Mary, a small church, devoted to Saint Nicola, and a lodgings for travellers. The main door has a high wall which has two entrances. The assembly church is a big one-nave building in the style of Raška churches. It is different from the seaside churches. The main portal is in the romantic style. Beside the architecture, its paintings are of special importance. There is one painting preserved from the 13th century with 11 compositions from the life of the prophet Elias. This painting is in much better condition than all the others from the 16th century. Other paintings were ruined in the first part of 16th century when the Ottomans occupied the monastery and devastated it. They also carried away the lead roof. iwitnessdestinations.com

Ostrog Monastery Ostrog monastery stands on a hill between Danilovgrad and Niksic. The monastery was built by Vladika St.Vasilije of Zahumlje and Herzegovina, one of the four Montenegrin saints, in the 17th century. His relics are kept in the Monastery. The relics of St.Vasilije and the monastery are believed to have healing power. The monastery is a major sanctuary and a favorite visiting place for Orthodox Christians. The monastery has two churches. The Upper Church, built in a cave, was constructed in 1665. The wall paintings in the Upper Church, from the same period, are attributed to the artist Radul. Our Lady of the Rocks (Montenegrin, Croatian, Serbian: Gospa od Škrpjela, Serbian Cyrillic: Госпа од Шкрпјела) is one of the two islets off the coast of Perast in Bay of Kotor, Montenegro (the other being Sveti Đorđe Island). It is an artificial island created by bulwark of rocks and by sinking old and seized ships loaded with rocks. The Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Rocks (Italian: Chiesa della Madonna dello Scarpello) is the only building on the islet. According to legend, the islet was made over the centuries by the seamen who kept an ancient oath after finding the icon of Madonna and Child on the rock in the sea on July 22, 1452. Upon returning from each successful voyage, they laid a rock in the Bay. Over time, the islet gradually emerged from the sea. The custom of throwing rocks into the sea is alive even nowadays. Every year on the sunset of July 22, an event called fašinada, when local residents take their boats and throw rocks into the sea, widening the surface of the island, takes place. The first known church was built on the islet in 1452 and it was Serbian Orthodox. It was taken over by Roman Catholics and in 1632 the present Church of Our Lady of the Rocks was built. And in the camp he painted as much as he could. - It is interesting that I cannot find that real camp feeling in these sketches, neither in drawings of prisoners, nor of anything else. And I thought: Well if I can't do it now, I thought, than I am going to say something special as a painter, when I get out of the camp. However, I once made the strange symbiosis of the camp: the wires, the shacks, and all of these shacks seemed to me like coffins, one next to each other. Really, with these words the painter himself, gave the best mark of his saved paintings from that period.
