TODAY IN HISTORY - Montenegro's National Day - 13 July 2010
Duration : 60 Seconds

Today, July 13, Montenegro celebrates its National Day or statehood Day, honoring its recongnition of sovereignth in 1878. Situated between Serbia and the Adriatic Sea in southeastern Europe, Montenegro is known for its architectural heritage. Examples of this include the 16th-century Husein-Pasha Mosque in Pljevlja, the Romanesque Cathedral of St. Tryphon, and Our Lady of the Rocks Baroque church on an islet in the Bay of Kotor. The Natural and Culturo-Historical Region of Kotor is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. Montenegro's wonderfully scenic Durmitor National Park, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, has some of the deepest gorges in Europe. We wish the citizens of Montenegro a splendid Statehood Day.

Duration : 159 Seconds

PODGORICA, October 7, 2011 - The Euro qualifiers match between Montenegro and England yet again placed the It's About Ability campaign in the spotlight of nationwide efforts to promote inclusion of children with disabilities into Montenegrin society. Lazar Dragojevic, a 15 year old child advocate from the It's About Ability billboards handed over the football to the referee before the start of the game. He was greeted with big round of applause from more than 10 000 spectators at the stadium, while the estimate was that more than 40 million people were watching the game on TVs worldwide. Lazar was born with cerebral palsy. His love for football made him stronger and helped him recover from several surgeries he had to undergo to improve his walking.

England Training Session | England vs Montenegro 07-10-11
Duration : 145 Seconds

FATV today had exclusive behind the scenes access to England's training session ahead of the vital qualifier which could see England qualify with a game left to play. The team appeared relaxed and in good spirits... England will reach a milestone in Montenegro. England's Euro 2012 Qualifier in Podgorica tonight is arguably their 900th match in history. The Three Lions have so far featured in 897 completed internationals, plus two that weren't completed. Argentina v England in Buenos Aires in 1953 was abandoned after 21 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch but the respective FAs agreed that the 0-0 score should stand as a final result. Republic of Ireland v England in Dublin in 1995 was abandoned after 27 minutes due to crowd trouble and didn't have a final result -- but caps were awarded. England's first-ever match was played against Scotland in Glasgow on 30 November 1872. An estimated crowd of 3500 at the West of Scotland Cricket Ground in Partick saw a 0-0 draw that Bell's Life described as "one of the jolliest, one of the most spirited and most pleasant matches that have ever been played according to Association rules". England's World Cup Final victory in 1966 was their 409th match. Scotland v England in Glasgow on 5 April 1902, at which there were fatalities after part of a stand collapsed, was declared void.

bwin MVP for December: Nikola Mirotic, Real Madrid December 2011 may go down in history as the month that Nikola Mirotic completed his upgrade from prominent role player to a bonafide ace. But in four games in December, Mirotic dominated like never before in leading his team to a perfect record with wins over three other Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 teams to clinch first place in Group C and a No. 1 seed in the Top 16 Draw. For his outstanding performances in leading his team to outstanding results, Mirotic has become Euroleague Basketball's choice as bwin MVP for December. In a month that saw the Whites go through upheaval with injuries as well as players coming and going, Mirotic remained solid as a rock and he led the team in both scoring and rebounding. Montenegro: The Challenges Of A Newborn State
Duration : 4813 Seconds

The Mercatus Center at George Mason University presents a panel discussion on Montenegro: The Challenges of a Newborn State, a recent installment in the Mercatus Policy Series. The panel includes authors Frederic Sautet and Kyle McKenzie of the Mercatus Center, and Svetozar Pejovich, professor Emeritus at Texas A&M University. The discussion focuses around the recently-independent nation of Montenegro, its history of economic reforms, the impediments to progress it currently faces, and possible policy and constitutional reforms that might benefit the young nation in the future including the thorny issue of EU ascension. Montenegro is an exciting and important case study since it represents the difficulties, but also the hopes, that Eastern European countries face in their transition towards greater freedom. The event features commentary from Emeritus Professor of economics at Texas A&M University Steve Pejovich, a native of Montenegro.
