"No Water, No Animals, No People" - Gobi Desert, Mongolia
Duration : 361 Seconds

".......The Gobi Desert is a wondrous place, vast in size and mother nature at one of her best. The landscape is made up of endless steppe like plains, huge rocky outcrops, rough scrublands, mountains, dry river beds, sand dunes and seemingly, endless stoney plains. Spectacular, bleak , cruel and unforgiving where, at times the temperature is cold with intense biting winds, then within minutes changes to a searing heat........"

Takhi Love "Mongolian Wild Horse".
Duration : 178 Seconds

The Mongolian Wild Horse or Takhi as the Mongolians call it is also known as the Przewalskii Horse after the first European to Describe the Takhi in their natural environment, they are the last remaining wild horse on earth. These small sturdy animals have been brought back from extinction in the wild through a breading program started in 1992 with 15 horses collected from zoos around the world including Australia., the success of this program indicates that one we may see these beautiful animals once again roam free across Mongolia's vast open range. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to film these horses at the HUSTAI National Park in Mongolia, in April 2011. www.hustai.mn The Music is a cover of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game sung by "Three Days Grace" music.bec0de.com There is also a second clip with a traditional Mongolian Folk Song as a backing track which is quite haunting at www.youtube.com

Khoid Tsenkher cave, Mongolia
Duration : 182 Seconds

Rock paintings of the Khoit Tsenkher cave date back to the Upper Palaeolithic period (20000-15, 000 years ago). In one of corners of the cave measuring 2.5 m high and 1.5-2.0 m deep, numerous symbols and animals were painted overlapping each other on the ceiling and wall. A quiet standing stag was portrayed clearly among the animals. Also a standing buffalo with horus looking ahead was represented separately. In another corner of the cave, many animals including oxes, ibexes, elephants, ostriches were pictured, overlapping each other. It is interesting that dotted lines were drawn over the ostriches. On its wall in a cave hollow measuring 10 m long and 8 m wide a camel with to humbs was portrayed. Also many symbols and trees were painted at the height of 2.0-2.5 m not far from the wall, where the camel was portrayed. Lions, elephants, argali sheep, ibexes, ostriches, antelopes, camels, as well as symbols were painted with mineral-based paints of rosy and brown colours on the walls deep inside the cave. By the method of painting of different kinds of animals, their colour and view, the Khoit Tsenkher cave rock paintings show their original artistic, cultural and historical features which are different from the other rock paintings in Mongolia and her neighbouring countries. Some particular parts of the animals such as their horns, necks, humbs are depicted with an exaggerated hyper-realism typical of the Palaeolothic period. Spots adjacent to the images of goats and ...

Unreal: Mongolian Throat Singing
Duration : 383 Seconds

*PLEASE SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE TRAVEL VIDEOS* My sister told me that I HAD TO check out Mongolian Throat Singing when I was in Mongolia. I had no idea what to expect. What I found was a strong form of music, an unbelievable use of the vocal chords to create sound vibrations. You could literally feel them in your chest! Mongolia is a vast, empty space - the least densely populated place in the world. And yet this music is so full, deep and rich. It is haunting hearing it boom out into the nothingness. NOTE: Please check out the newer, shorter version of this film here: bit.ly

Mongolia - Cash for Work
Duration : 547 Seconds

The situation for Mr Buyanbat in Zuunbayan-Ulaan soum in Uvurkhangai aimag mirrors that of many herders throughout the country. Mr Buyanbat moved his livestock from Uyanga soum in search of better pasture. He lives with his pregnant wife, and his four children attend school in the aimag centre. At the end of 2009 he had about 1000 sheep and goats and 300 cattle and horses. However, the dzud decimated his herd, and he has been left with just 100 sheep and goats. From September, he struggled to endure seven months of extreme cold. "The temperature was an unprecedented low this year," he said. "We lost everything that I worked for in 15 years of herding." However, he is determined to overcome the loss. "I am still young and I will work again to build up my herd." The dzud has hit Mongolian herders hard. More than 8.5 million head of livestock, or almost 20 percent of the nation's livestock, perished, making this dzud the worst since 1987. For herders like Mr Buyanbat, the resulting problems are twofold. Firstly, the dzud has cost them their main source of income and their primary source of food. Secondly, they are now at risk of disease from the animal carcasses that have been left to rot in the open, particularly those close to settlements and water sources. With the onset of spring, the snow has begun to melt and decomposition now threatens to pollute water and soil. Herders have an enormous task ahead of them in disposing of the millions of bodies scattered throughout the ...

The Gobi Desert - Mongolia
Duration : 276 Seconds

Music: Goviin Magtaal by Egschiglen (from the album "Gereg") Music and lyrics traditional - arranged by Sarangerel Tserevsamba - khöömii by Amra - solo vocals by Saran Paeans or songs of praise (magtaal) are sung to pay tribute to nature in itself, the spirits of nature or the Lamaistic gods or to praise individual mountains, rivers, animals or heroes. It is mainly camel-driving nomads who live in the Gobi Desert, so this paean is sung to the Gobi in the rhythm of the camel's footsteps. "From the blue gleaming steppe you come to visit us in the Gobi. When you visit us in the Gobi, you are cordially invited to our yurt. The doors of our white yurt are always open. With best wishes we invite you: take a seat on the north side of the yurt (place of honour), and the genial Gobi girl will entertain you with freshly brewed tea with camel's milk. Visit us in the Gobi, the home of countless herds - the fabulous Gobi." (from the booklet of the CD) pages: www.lastfm.de www.albakultur.de on wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org
