| | Mexican Polyglot Speaks 11 Languages Duration : 437 Seconds Mexican polyglot speaks English, Spanish, Polish, French, Catalan, Romanian, Portuguese, German, Dutch, Latin & Italian. I hope this video inspires others to study languages and learn about other cultures. Thanks for watching! Here is the amount of time I had been speaking each language at the time I made the video; English-21 yrs, Polish-2 yrs, French-10 yrs, Catalan-3 yrs, Romanian-4 yrs, Portuguese-3 yrs, German-4 yrs, Dutch-2 months, Latin-4 months, Italian-11 yrs. Spanish is my native language and I learned English as a child when I moved to the United States. I remained bilingual until high school where I learned Italian and French. Then in college I took classes to learn Polish, German, Portuguese & Catalan. I only took one course for each language and afterwards I continued studying on my own with the help of friends that were native speakers of each language. During college I also taught myself Romanian by listening to music. I translated song lyrics and I started forming my own original sentences based on the structures I heard in the songs. Later on I also used a grammar book to learn full conjugations of all the different verbs. I studied Romanian for a year before I finally had a chance to practice it with native Romanian speakers. Besides Romanian, only Latin & Dutch have also been entirely self-taught with the help of music and literature. *I recently arrived Mexico where I am currently studying Nahuatl. *Very soon I would also like to learn Russian ... They have a change in luck when Batuta, a soccer talent scout, discovers them accidentally. Tato is the first to move to the big city where he becomes the star goal scorer for the prestigious Deportivo Amaranto (Amaranto Club). His baroque playing style earns him the nickname of Corny. At the peak of glory, they forget all animosity, although it does not last long. At the very real possibility of fulfilling all of their dreams, the siblings must face an innate rivalry as well as their own demons and limitations. | | Mexican indigenous Russians rusos русскиe Duration : 397 Seconds The Malakans (also spelled "Molokans"), a Russian farming religious sect, purchased the land in the Ensenada valley, now known as Guadalupe, from the Mexican government in 1905 to escape the draft in Czarist Russia. Today, the area, just a couple hours from San Diego, is a thriving wine and tourist destination. The museum in this video was the living quarters of the Russians. Their decedents run the restaurant and the museum. The Russians have long since blended in with the local indigenous population, and do not speak Russian in their daily lives, however we meet a woman decedent who tries to keep the Russian language at least present in their homes. My wife, a Russian, and her were exchanging some names of Russian foods, which the Mexican-Russians have adapted with a twist. My wife noted that they had incorrectly spelled a Russian word on their menu, which the woman quickly agreed to correct for future printings. | | Jose M. Hernandez - Nasa Mexican Astronaut Duration : 239 Seconds José Moreno Hernández was born on August 7, 1962 in French Camp, California, but calls Stockton, California as his hometown. He is an American engineer of Mexican descent and a NASA astronaut. He is currently assigned to the crew of Space Shuttle mission STS-128. NASA engineer Jose Hernandez wanted to fly in space ever since he heard that the first Hispanic-American had been chosen to travel into space. "I was hoeing a row of sugar beets in a field near Stockton, Calif., and I heard on my transistor radio that Franklin Chang-Diaz had been selected for the Astronaut Corps," says Hernandez, who was a senior in high school at the time. "I was already interested in science and engineering," Hernandez remembers, "but that was the moment I said, 'I want to fly in space.' And that's something I've been striving for each day since then." And now that hard work is paying off. He has been selected to begin training as a mission specialist as part of the 2004 astronaut candidate class. One of four children in a migrant farming family from Mexico, Hernandez -- who didn't learn English until he was 12 years old -- spent much of his childhood on what he calls "the California circuit," traveling with his family from Mexico to southern California each March, then working northward to the Stockton area by November, picking strawberries and cucumbers at farms along the route. Then they would return to Mexico for Christmas, and start the cycle all over again come spring. "Some kids might ... Duration : 309 Seconds Join the Facebook group called STOP Illegal Immigration & Secure OUR Borders NOW! Invite ALL of your Facebook friends! Here is the link www.facebook.com Please thank Congressman Tom McClintock From his website: mcclintock.house.gov Contact My Office, I am here to serve the residents of the 4th Congressional District, and so is my staff. Washington Office (916) 786-5560 or (202) 225-2511 mcclintockforms.house.gov Congressman Tom McClintock Representing The 4th District of California M. Speaker: I rise to take strong exception to the speech of the President of Mexico while in this chamber today. The Mexican government has made it very clear for many years that it holds American sovereignty in contempt and President Calderons behavior as a guest of the Congress confirms and underscores this attitude. It is highly inappropriate for the President of Mexico to lecture Americans on American immigration policy, just as it would be for Americans to lecture Mexico on its laws. It is obvious that President Calderon does not understand the nature of America or the purpose of our immigration law. Unlike Mexicos immigration law -- which is brutally exclusionary -- the purpose of Americas law is not to keep people out. It is to assure that as people come to the United States, they do so with the intention of becoming Americans and of raising their children as Americans. Unlike Mexico, our nation embraces immigration and what makes that possible is assimilation. A century ago President ... | | Roberto Griego Arriba Nuevo Mexico Duration : 239 Seconds From a youngster who was raised in a community "where there are more rabbits than people," to a nationally known music star, Roberto Jose Griego still considers himself, "just an ordinary guy." "I was raised on a ranch in La Joya, NM by my father, grandparents and an aunt. I lost my mother to cancer when I was two. My grandfather worked from before dawn until after dark to provide us with a roof over our heads and food on the table, and we were still on Welfare. As a teenager, I practiced playing the guitar for seven to eight hours a day. My grandmother would tell me to go find a job, so I would pretend to have looked all day and then come back and play my guitar again." Griego goes on to say that although they were considered working poor, and his grandparents were probably considered illiterate, "We were rich in love." Griego just recently lost his father at the age of 91. "We were very close." He began playing and singing with other bands and subsequently recorded his first record in a studio in Albuquerque owned by John Wagner. "I walked in and asked if I could record a song and they asked me where my band was. I told them, 'I am the band!'" It cost him $45 to record his record ($120 today). Griego said, "I played rhythm and sang on the first track and then played lead melody on the second track." Griego then remarks that, "What began as me, myself and I and my guitar producing my first 45 rpm record (Un Pobre No Mas, 1971-which still remains his biggest hit) I have ...
