Pleiades Spirit cargo ship leaving the Tyne
Duration : 296 Seconds

www.facebook.com www.ceepackaging.com twitter @ceepackaging www.facebook.com I was sitting at my favourite bench overlooking the Tyne when the Panamanian registered Pleiades Spirit came down. My mind went to the day the Mauritania passed on its maiden voyage in 1907 and I thought of this. There is a very famous painting of the ship as it passes this point painted from South Shields and offering a view of North Shields then which from a local history point of view is very valid. The Pleiades Spirit is 200m long and 32m wide whereas the Mauretania was 240.8m long and 26.8m wide. Therefore this impressive ship sailing out of the Tyne is even smaller than the Mauretania was on that day 104 years ago when it sailed out! My channel on you tube : www.youtube.com is one of themost prolific from Poland. I have produced around 1900 original films. My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects Please feel free to ask questions in the public area or to comment on things you disagree with. EARTH Masterpieces of Stone and Ice (in 1080p)
Duration : 812 Seconds

Watch this and other space videos at SpaceRip.com Revel in Earth as Art. Make sure you watch in glorious 1080p. Landsat missions were launched for scientific purposes, but they make up one of the most awe-inspiring collections of beautiful images of our home planet. For the last few centuries, artists have been exploring Earth's untamed and awe-inspiring vistas, often as an antidote to life in the modern world. They evoked the grandeur of the Hudson River, the peace of Scandinavian fiords, or the omnipotent power of the ocean. This romantic ideal today has gained a new vantage point, from space, and a new set of brushes for capturing the beauty of our planet. Landsat images feature colors tuned to record geological or even human forces at work. More than that, though, this great gallery of Earth explores its timeless beauty, its uncertain path forward. So take this tour of Earth's great landforms as seen from space. We travel to Africa and the Sahara and Namib deserts, to Argentina and Bolivia, the American heartland, and the great Canadian land and ice forms. Then it's on to Greenland, Iceland, Russia, India, China, and finally the continent down under. We wrap our journey in a small corner of the vast Great Sandy Desert. The satellite has brought out the scarring action of natural wildfires. The narrow sand dunes that cut across the scene are like cracks on an ancient brittle canvas. A masterpiece, from the turbulent imagination of an artist, whose brushes are wind, and ...

Citizens speak out - 23 Apr 2011
Duration : 198 Seconds

Citizens speak out. People across the globe continue to demand the universal recognition of human rights along with government reforms that include greater honesty as well as citizen participation in countries such as Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Botswana, Cambodia, China, Cuba, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Mexico, Palestine, Syria, Uganda, the US and Yemen. As US government employees protest states reducing their wages in an effort to eliminate budget deficits, US President Barack Obama has begun addressing their concerns by calling for higher tax rates for the nation's most wealthy, who he says are better able to withstand income reductions. Meanwhile, a group of supporters attending a fundraising event hosted by President Obama on Thursday, April 21 called for the US government to respect the rights of Private First Class Bradley Manning, a soldier accused of releasing sensitive information to the press, by ending the harsh treatment he is receiving in prison, including being kept in solitary confinement and forced to sleep without clothing at night. In Africa, Ugandans protest the re-arrest of minority party leader Kizza Besigye, who had been leading calls for walk to work day as a means of protesting higher fuel prices. Addressing the Bilin Sixth International Conference on Wednesday, April 20, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad spoke out against the use of violence to achieve independence from Israel, saying that diplomacy is more effective in achieving ...

So that U May Believe -Let US go to Bethlehem !The Greatest story ever Told (1965)
Duration : 656 Seconds

en.wikipedia.org Bethlehem "House of Meat"; , lit "House of Bread;") is a Palestinian city in the central West Bank, approximately 10 kilometers (6 mi) south of Jerusalem, with a population of about 30000 people. It is the capital of the Bethlehem Governorate of the Palestinian National Authority and a hub of Palestinian culture and tourism. The Hebrew Bible identifies Beit Lehem as the city David was from and the location where he was crowned as the king of Israel. The New Testament Gospels of Matthew and Luke identify Bethlehem as the birthplace of Jesus of Nazareth. The town is inhabited by one of the oldest Christian communities in the world, though the size of the community has shrunk due to emigration. The British wrested control of the city from the Ottomans during World War I and it was to be included in an international zone under the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine. Jordan annexed the city in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It was occupied by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War. Since 1995, Bethlehem has been governed by the Palestinian National Authority. Bethlehem's chief economic sector is tourism which peaks during the Christmas season when Christian pilgrims throng to the Church of the Nativity. Bethlehem has over thirty hotels and three hundred handicraft work shops.Rachel's Tomb, an important Jewish holy site, is located at the entrance of Bethlehem. Bethlehem is the traditional birthplace of David, the second king of Israel, and the place where he ...

Volubilis / Viajes Almusafir
Duration : 75 Seconds

THE ORIGINAL STORY OF THE 16 FOOT TALL KING ARTHUR
Duration : 614 Seconds

The King Arthur story though untrue, parallels a true story in the sky known thousands of years in advance by God. Antique tiles tell the story in a living room framing an open hearth with its glowing warmth radiating out into the sacred room. The author of the volume, "The Desire of Ages," introduces the French girl to the Prince. She becomes closely acquainted with Him during her freshmen year in high school early every morning. The inspired author is so pleased to introduce the two that she holds the volume to her bosom on her death bed. The wilderness tabernacle of Moses had layers of ceiling fabric buttoned together with gold clasps. They looked like stars in the night in the holy and most holy places. The flickering light of the golden candlestick caught the gold of the clasps making them sparkle like stars. God builds stories in the sky from century to century first placed in the heavens during creation week. The story is in Solomon's Temple as well. You will find the facts to this story if you closely study the stars as she has done. The French girl has ignited a storm when she sunbathes with a privacy screen around her out in the open garden area close to a national forest that goes uninhabited for miles. Suspicious talk ignites among the ten virgins and brothers and their reaction proves to her that someone is in the forest nearby unseen. She never sees the person. No one will talk to her about it, only to each other. Trying to fix things, she writes on posters ...

Another look at Ethiopia and the slave trade
Duration : 88 Seconds

I believe that the demand for slaves in the Americas was the driving force behind this. While demand for slaves elsewhere would certainly be significant I believe it would be of a lesser importance The importance of slaves from Ethiopia in the 18th century would probably be in replenishing areas that were being depopulated. See bellow: The fact that the Swahili slave trade expands at the same time as abolition in west Africa again that it was the European demand for slaves that was the primary (but not the only) force behind the African slave trade. www.bbc.co.uk "There were three main reasons why more slaves were required: 1. The clove plantations on Zanzibar and Pemba set up by Sultan Seyyid Said, needed labour. 2. Brazilian traders were finding it difficult to operate in West Africa because the British navy was intercepting slave ships. The Brazilians made the journey round the Cape of Good Hope, taking slaves from the Zambezi valley and Mozambique. 3. The French had started up sugar and coffee plantations in Mauritius and Reunion." "Wonders of the African World" by Henry Louis Gates page 84 www.amazon.com "Gondar enjoyed a well-deserved reputation as a thriving urban center of politics, religion, and trade. Goods such as incense, musk, gold, and slaves flowed westward to the Sudan or northward to Massawa" John Newton: books.google.com "But I apprehend, that the neighborhood of our ships, and the desire of our goods, are motives which often push the rigor of the laws ...

Jihad and the European demand for slaves Trans-Atlantic Slave trade part 3
Duration : 259 Seconds

Louise Marie Diop-Maes: translate.google.com "Leo Africanus (early sixteenth century) mentions that the King of Bornu (Chad region) will mount an expedition to capture slaves once a year (1).... "The raids were multiplied to the point of reaching a total of eighty per year in the early nineteenth century, north-east of Central, according to the Tunisian scholar Mohamed el-Tounsy, who traveled to Darfur and Ouaddaï (now Chad) at this time (2). The percentage of prisoners in relation to the whole population thus continually increases from the seventeenth century and the late nineteenth and "once densely populated districts were reclaimed by the bush" or forest (3)." Using Dahomey, again, as an example, I am going to compare it with the Sokotto caliphate. This empires involvement can be blamed, in part, to the European slave traders, I believe, because this had to do with manipulation of African economies. Manipulation of African currency lead rulers to established a system where they relied on the slave trade for stability. The civil wars that seem to go with rising slave prices are linked, I think, to the economy becoming unstable. This lead to movements against the slave trade amongst both Muslim and non Muslim Africans, and at almost the same time in the mid and late 17th century See my other videos on the subject For those who read Robin Law's article Dahomey was basically geared to survive in the brutal environment of the slave trade. Dahomey's ability to remain stable ...

Duration : 635 Seconds

Un tour por Bolivia. An enormous diversity of ecological zones are represented within Bolivia's territory. The western highlands of the country are situated in the Andes mountains and include the Bolivian Altiplano. The eastern lowlands include large sections of Amazonian rainforests and Chaco. The highest peak is Nevado Sajama at 6542 metres (21463 ft) located in the department of Oruro. Lake Titicaca is located on the border between Bolivia and Peru. The Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat, lies in the southwest corner of the country, in the department of Potosí. Major cities are La Paz, El Alto, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, and Cochabamba. Bolivia's ethnic distribution is estimated to be 30% Quechua-speaking and 25% Aymara-speaking Amerindians. The largest of the approximately three-dozen native groups are the Quechuas (2.5 million), Aymaras (2 million), then Chiquitano (180000), and Guaraní (125000). So the full Amerindian population is at 55% and the remaining 30% is Mestizo (mixed Amerindian and European) and around 15% are Whites. Bolivian culture has been heavily influenced by the Quechua, the Aymara, as well as by the popular cultures of Latin America as a whole. The best known of the various festivals found in the country is the "Carnaval de Oruro", which was among the first 19 "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity," as proclaimed by the UNESCO in May of 2001. Entertainment includes football (soccer), which is the national sport, as ...
