You'll hear some Maltese folk music complimented by photos of paintings drawn by John Scerri, a Maltese who is now living in Canada. John Scerri is a retired woodwork teacher. He was born in Hamrun Malta but emigrated to Canada many years ago. After he retired, he continued to do some woodwork at home and once his wife suggested he should try his hand on painting. He took a few courses to familiarize himself with mixing the colors and a few painting techniques and he eventually came up with some very beautiful paintings, mostly of his beloved Malta but he also painted some other topics. This is the widest painting I've done and I'm really starting to like this scale and broad landscape view. It delivers an interesting panorama and vibrant presence, which fills a room without over powering it. The picture itself is a complex view while for me at least, still manages to be peaceful. Some paintings by Aleksandar Stankovski have been banned from being exhibited at the Gozo Arts Festival. Jasmina Kotevska, who arranged to have these paintings exhibited was told by the person organising the art exhibition that the paintings were banned after a report was filed to the Gozo Ministry. The paintings had already been exhibited in Macedonia without problems. She spoke about it to TVM journalist, Keith Demicoli.

My Choice 10 - Offenbach - Barcarolle Grazio Falzon Paintings This is number 10 in the "MUSIC: My Choice" series and it feature a beautiful selection, Barcarolle, from the opera Tales of Hoffman by Jacque Offenbach. We're also featuring photos of paintings by our dear and respected friend, Professor Grazio Falzon who lives in Indiana, US. Professor Falzon was born in Zejtun Malta. He has always been a very bright student since his youth. He studied at the Lateran University in Rome and furthered his studies at the Universities of Paris and Los Angeles and was awarded scholarships by the Italian Government, the Goethe University, Germany and by different American corporations Falzon lectured on languages at Oregon's Pacific University and at the Pepperdime University of Los Angeles. He was also appointed professor at Indiana University. He wrote many poems and also published an English-Maltese phrase dictionary. Besides being a brilliant linguistic professor, Grazio is also an artist as you can see from the paintings in this video. He's also fond of animals especially horses and dogs and he's also a good cook. Grazio was the first Maltese to put up a Maltese website on the internet - most of us remember "Grazio's Malta Virtwali". Grazio will not enjoy the details we wrote above but he deserves to be given credit for his excellent achievements. Malta is proud of him. This video has an extremely beautiful melody and extremely beautiful paintings by an extremely brilliant Maltese artist, Andrew Micallef. Florentiner March by Julius Fučík (1872 -1916) who was a Czech composer and conductor of military bands. Fučík spent most of his life as the leader of military brass bands. He became a prolific composer, with over 300 marches, polkas, and waltzes to his name. As most of his work was for military bands, he is sometimes known as the "Bohemian Sousa". Today his marches are still played as patriotic music in the Czech Republic. The Florentiner March, composed as a grand march for an opera never completed is regularly performed and recorded by wind ensembles. The paintings you see are the work of Andrew Micallef, a brillaint Maltese artist who's details are simply awesome. Andrew loves Nature and enjoys going for walks in the countryside taking photos some of which he puts on canvas or on board with high details. He's also very fond of birds. He held several exhibitions in prominent places featuring his paintings. This is part of a Massa Cantata in St.Johns CoCathedral in Valletta-Malta composed by a great Maltese Composer named Paolino Vassallo. Mro Paolino Vassallo studied under Massenet and won a competition which he refused because in order to get the prize he had to withdraw his Maltese citizenship and embrace to the French one. The one that won the competion after him was the famous French composer Debussy. The beautiful church was built by the Knights of Malta and is one of the finest churces in the world. In this church one finds Caravaggio's painting amongst other famous artists.
