Speed Painting Salif Keita (Ana Na Ming)
Duration : 194 Seconds

Facebook : www.facebook.com DeviantArt : mathurin156.deviantart.com Done in approximately 2h40. music: "Ananamin", Moffou by Salif keita. visit my blog at : mathurin-dubouetiez.blogspot.com Salif Keita Biography Salif Keita - A master of West African rhythms and credited as one of the founders of the Afro-pop genre, Keita is world renowned for his unforgettable live performances, soaring vocals and his emotionally-fueled songs. Born in Mali, West Africa in 1949, Salif Keita comes from a noble family, and is a descendant of Sunjata Keita, who founded the Mali Empire in 1240. Keita was the third of thirteen children born to Sina Keita, a landowner in the village of Djoliba, where he grew up, near Malis capital, Bamako. Born albino in a land of blistering sun and heat, with limited eyesight and poor despite his social standing, his mother had to hide him to avoid the attacks of the superstitious crowds who called for his death. In addition to the problems of growing up as an albino, Keita found the opposition of his family to his interest in becoming a singer since the traditions of his ancestry excluded members of the nobility from becoming singers. Keitas decision to become a musician broke an important taboo as in Mali only the lower jeli class makes its living from music. In 1970, at the age of 18, Salif Keita left Djoliba for Bamako, where he spent time as a street musician and playing in bars. The first group that he worked with was the Rail Band, a state-sponsored ...

Miquel Barceló, Spanish Pavilion. La Biennale di Venezia 09
Duration : 148 Seconds

www.vernissage.tv | Miquel Barceló represents Spain at the 53rd Venice Biennale 2009. On display is a series of large format paintings surveying Miquel Barceló's work from 2000 to the present. The exhibition also features a group of ceramics. The most recent works come from the same time as when the artist was creating the dome at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. Miquel Barceló placed a number of canvases on the floor, which were randomly covered by the paint dripping from the ceiling. These canvases were used as backgrounds for the new paintings that address three major subjects primates, African landscapes and sea foam. The exhibition also features a screening of "Paso Doble", the performance originally produced for the Avignon Festival in collaboration with the choreographer Josef Nadji and a series of works by the French artist and writer François Augiéras (1925 - 1971), whose oeuvre Miquel Barceló wishes to bring to a larger public. Miquel Barceló was born in 1957 in Felanitx, Mallorca. He came into early contact with art through his mother who was an amateur painter. In 2003 he received Spain's most prestigious award, the Prince of Asturias Arts Prize. In 2008 he created the dome at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. The Spanish Pavilion has been curated by Enrique Juncosa. Miquel Barceló, Spanish Pavilion at the 53rd International Art Exhibition Venice Biennale 2009. June 5, 2009. vernissage.tv

MALI DIE SLAAF SE LIED
Duration : 217 Seconds

Van die Lotosland waar die lelies groei is a song based on a poem by C. Louis Leipoldt. The song, composed in 1931 by S. le Roux Marais, tells the story of a slave, Mali, who is reminiscing about the land where he/she comes from. In the times when slavery was still fashionable, there were slaves imported from Malaysia, which explains the reference to the Lotus (flower). Enjoy this song.

Mali Losinj - The church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Duration : 38 Seconds

The walk along the shore leads you to the farthest point of Čikat, Annunziata Point, named after the votive church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is the heart of Lošinj. Today's church, of classicist facade, was built in 1858 alongside an older, smaller church. In front of the point is the open sea, extending into the distance. From this point Lošinj women and mothers saw off ships and greeted them. Every Lošinj ship, after it left harbour to embark on a distant voyage, would land in Čikat at Annunziata. The crew would disembark and they would pray the Rosary in the church with their families. Then, embracing, they would take leave of each other, return to the ship and disappear into the distance. This is the church of Lošinj's anxiety, sighs and tears. In the interior, on the walls, hang paintings of 19th century Lošinj sailing ships, votive gifts after danger and shipwreck in thanks for a safe return. And today, if any ship sounds its siren in greeting as it passes Annunziata Point, you can be sure that the captain is from Lošinj.

Ep.25 - MICHELANGELO MERISI DA CARAVAGGIO - SANTA CATERINA DA CARAVAGGIO - BLULIGHT GALLERY
Duration : 90 Seconds

www.blulight.it - ART GALLERY - Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (29 September 1571 -- 18 July 1610) was an Italian artist active in Rome, Naples, Malta, and Sicily between 1593 and 1610. His paintings, which combine a realistic observation of the human state, both physical and emotional, with a dramatic use of lighting, had a formative influence on the Baroque school of painting.
