A typical Malaysian 24 Seasons unit consists of twenty four drums. The number twenty four is not an arbitrary selection. It represents agricultural seasons from the Chinese calendar. If you look closely you will find the name of each season painted in calligraphy on each drum.Summer, fall/autumn, winter and spring are the primary seasons which are further divided into six secondary seasons. According to a farmer's calendar the seasons which constitute the twenty four seasons .The LateTan Hooi Song 61,Traditional drummer was the co-founder of the famous 24-Season Drums group that spread its wings to other countries such as China, Taiwan and Singapore.He was also a music teacher at a private secondary school here, and had contributed much in the field.This video was taken at Georgetown,Penang (UNESCO Heritage Site ) During Chinese New Year Celebration 2011.Sorry about the audio is not Dobby Stereo,I only have a trial version software.
