A heavy rucksack and three kilometres on a bike, up hills in the midday sun. I was on the last leg of my journey to Lilongwe airport in Malawi, and at the bike rank, some drivers looked sheepishly at me and others began to laugh at my suggestion of travelling on the back of their bicycles. I was willing to walk, but in a country as poor as Malawi, money talked and I had a driver. As he sweated up the hills, hauling this huge weight, I filmed the whole journey, much to my amusement.

The University of Livingstonia graduated it's first class of degree students on September 15, 2007. The president of the country, Dr. Bingu wa Mutharika attended the ceremony. This blessing choir performed the night before at the Baccalaureate ceremony. My husband and I attended the ceremony and will be returning for 6 months to help the university.
