Homosexuals in Malawi begin Gay Rights Movement
Duration : 92 Seconds

Even when Malawi has an active population of approximately hundred thousand homosexuals, they never have come publicly to express themselves because of country's repressive laws. Malawi constitution outlaws homosexuality and it's a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment with hard labor. But contrary to this, gays now have decided to come forth because they want their views to be heard, treated equally and protected like a normal Malawian citizens. For this purpose, Malawian homosexuals have formed an association that is named as Malawi Gay Rights Movement. This Movement will surely press Malawi society and constitution to accept Gays, as the people meeting in the homosexual community are prominent business persons, politicians, artists, journalists and clerics. Malawi's always active gay population yearn for recognition, but it remains to be seen as to how long will it take for the constitution in particular to decriminalize homosexuality and society in general to accept them . However, it seems that they have to wait little too longer to find well-wishers and meet equal treatment. www.instablogs.com

Malawi: Adaptation to Climate Change by Mphunga villagers
Duration : 453 Seconds

The Malawian Red Cross Society, supported by the RC/RC Climate Centre and the Malawi Meteorological Service, have been working with Mphunga village, delivering simple information about climate change and the need for adaptation. As a result the program has pushed villagers to take real action. They began adapting their activities in simple ways such as substituting maize crops with rice and replacing chicken with duck stock, as ducks float and chicken drown. With our facilitation, the villagers produced a participatory video to share, through video screenings workshops, these community-based adaptation practices with four other neighbor communities that face similar problems. Jehovah's Witnesses and the Malawi incidents(another "Crisis of Conscience")
Duration : 500 Seconds

Utterly inspired by "Crisis of Conscience" and my desire for justice and an awakening for JW's.Ultimately for them to find freedom in Christ, who has no bloodguilt or hypocrisy or lies in him.Organizational loyalty sure can cause a lot of damage.Jesus didn't separate his sheep into two classes, with a great disparity in the number in those classes with the right of the one in the ivory tower to dictate the consciences of the rest.Lording it over them with legalistic policies that are either fully met or sheep are tossed,no matter how arbitrary those policies may be. Madonna in Malawi
Duration : 189 Seconds

Open your eyes before criticize her. "From the moment I began my work on behalf of Malawi's ONE MILLION orphans, people have asked, "Why did you choose Malawi?" I always answer, "I didn't. Malawi chose me." Malawi is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Unfortunately, it is also one of the poorest - suffering from famine, drought, extreme poverty, and deadly diseases like HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. All of which could be treated with proper health care and education, if it were available. Through the Raising Malawi: Orphan Care Initiative, Michel Berg and I have committed to doing all that we can to help this small country in desperate need. We have met with world experts in healthcare, economics, education, and international development - leaders like Dr. Jeffrey Sachs and Dr. Paul Farmer, who have given a voice to the most underprivileged sectors of society. Together we are working to raise the quality of life for a generation of orphaned and vulnerable children. Now I'm asking you to join us. With one of the highest HIV/AIDS rates in the world and one of the lowest rankings in the Human Poverty Index, Malawi and her children are at the heart of the humanitarian crisis in sub-Saharan Africa. The challenges facing these children are unimaginable. Everyday in Malawi hundreds of children die from preventable illness, thousands are affected by abuse and neglect, and millions face a lonely struggle for survival without parents, or adult supervision. At ...

Raising Malawi
Duration : 585 Seconds

WHAT IS RAISING MALAWI? It is Michael Berg's vision to bring light to all parts of the world. What better place to start than in the african nation of Malawi. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, suffering from famine, drought, poverty, and diseases like HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Out of a population of 12 million, at least 1 million are orphans. Raising Malawi is a grassroots initiative offering lasting solutions to the orphans of Malawi. Our approach is comprehensivee, compassionate, and effective. Unhindered by obstacles such as bureaucracy and red-tape, Raising Malawi is run and staffed by volunteers, allowing us to raise these children up from powerlessness into self-empowerment -- quickly and directly. Our solutions are: •Provide immediate and direct physical support such as food, medical care, clothing, clean drinking water, psychosocial counseling, and schooling. •Provide sustainability. We are partnering with agricultural, medical, and educational experts to teach Malawians how best to improve these areas in the long run in order to create continuity and prosperity. •Create a sense of self empowerment. This is where real societal change begins. To this end we are co-creating a curriculum with local Malawian teachers (based on the principles of the Spirituality for Kids Program) that empowers children with universal life skills. Through an improved inner dialogue and strengthened sense of empowerment, Malawi's orphans will grow ...
