Madonna head to Malawi for charity
Duration : 132 Seconds

Hello, I'm Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update on this Friday, April 13, 2007. Pop star Madonna is heading to Malawi for charity work. Her rep says she'll be there to oversee the building of a children's health center. People magazine reports her trip sparked rumors Madonna is planning to adopt another child, but her rep says that's not the case. Madonna adopted David Banda from that country last year. The recently unemployed Don Imus met with the Rutger's women's basketball team last night. CNN reports the 10 girls, their parents and coaches met with former radio host in New Jersey. The team's coach didn't indicate what was discussed but did say the talk was productive. Imus' show was cancelled by CBS radio yesterday after he made a racial slur on air about the team. MSNBC also dropped the simulcast from their lineup. The American literature community has lost one of its own. Author Kurt Vonnegut is dead at the age of 84. His wife says Vonnegut died at a New York hospital Wednesday night. The writer had been in the hospital for several weeks receiving treatment for a brain injury that resulted from a recent fall. Vonnegut is known for combining fiction with dark humor. Some of his most famous works include books "Slaughterhouse Five" and "Cats Cradle." Rapper Timbaland's song "Give it to Me" is number one on the Billboard hot 100 chart. The release, which features Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake jumped from number 42 last week to the top this week. Akon's ...

Khanya Annual Winter School 2003_1
Duration : 375 Seconds

The fifth Khanya Annual Winter School in 2003 looked at NEPAD and the Challenges for Social Movements especially in the Southern African region. One of the major obstacles to solidarity across borders xenophobia was discussed in the context of African ruling class attempts to integrate Africa, the NEPAD. The Winter School was a step towards building regional solidarity, and raised consciousness among participants about the need to combat xenophobia in the sub-region. It was also an opportunity for activists to celebrate a culture of resistance, Activists from different countries shared songs and poetry, among others Richard Nwamba who spoke on the music of migration in Africa. Xenophobia in focus Creating awareness about Xenophobia was probably one of the most successful aspects of the Winter School. The combination of testimonies from refugees living in South Africa and the discussions on NEPAD combined the broader political context with very personalised accounts of the barriers to solidarity. The cultural programmes on African Literature, African forms of culture, African music and the contributions from comrades at the Winter School cultural evening all proved to be powerful methods of highlighting our common histories and our ability to create solidarity in the region. One hundred and thirty one activists from 74 different organisations participated in the school. Twenty-nine were from the Southern African region. This included activists from Botswana, Kenya, Malawi ...

PITN - The Mystery of Asenath
Duration : 1711 Seconds

One of Israel's greatest heroes, Joseph, rose to power in Egypt. Pharaoh honored him with a Gentile bride, daughter of the high priest of On, the city traditionally called Heliopolis. Her name was Asenath, and she married Joseph. In time, she became the mother of Ephraim and Manasseh. But as an Egyptian priest's daughter with a name dedicated to an idol, she also represents one of the Bible's greatest symbols. In fact, her name is a biblical archetype, the spirit and meaning of which remains alive and well to this day. Historically, it appears in a variety of different guises, but the image she represents is universal, and is venerated in statuary, paintings and literature. Rescued from devotion to an occult priesthood by her union with Joseph, she symbolizes a secret doctrine, and its ultimate defeat by Christ. As we track the historical appearances of the goddess for whom she is named, we discover that she plays an important role in prophecy, and in the direction taken through the march of time, by the leaders of the world order. In Babylon, Assyria, Persia, Greece and Rome, we find her prominent influence. In the Bible, she is the Old Testament "queen of heaven," and the New Testament "Diana of the Ephesians." The sixth of eight children, Qadri was 10 years old when his father Abdul Majeed, a merchant, died in a traffic accident. After his father's death, Qadri helped his four older sisters in caring for his younger sister and two younger brothers. After 1994 he began a catering business, which his younger brothers took over when he began public na'at recitation. From childhood, he was a religious person. "Before reciting any na'at,essential knowledge should be collected about it and special care should be taken to ensure that it is not objectionable by Islamic Shariah. It is best to check all naats with a learned scholar. Furthermore, they should restrain from such acts which can be criticized by others. They should be true and practical Muslims, ie not that talking about love for the Holy Prophet and murdering the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet by shaving off the beard and not showing regularity in daily prayers."[2] His religious teacher Yousuf Ashrafi - as well as such Islamic scholars and teachers as Syed Shah Tarab-ul-Haq, Musleh-uddin Siddique, Sadeeq Ismail ...

Representatives of Jehovah's Heavenly Kingdom

Idolizing JW Celebrities Song: "Shake Whatcha Mama Gave Ya (But Make Sho Your Niggas Pay Ya) by Mia X Reversal of Voting Rights Legislation Why Don't Jehovah's Witnesses Vote? Because they're representatives of God's heavenly kingdom. By Jacob Leibenluft Posted Thursday, June 26, 2008, at 6:39 PM ET Serena Williams Serena Williams told reporters at Wimbledon on Wednesday that she's excited about Barack Obama's candidacy but won't vote for him because Jehovah's Witnesses "don't get involved in politics." Her sister Venus—who is also a Jehovah's Witness—wouldn't even comment on the presidential election. Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses vote? Because of John 17:14 and other passages in the Bible. In that verse, Jesus says of his followers: "They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world." Jehovah's Witnesses have interpreted that statement as a call to remain neutral in all political matters. (In some of the sect's literature, members are described as "representatives of God's heavenly kingdom"; they are thus obligated to stay out of local political affairs in keeping with the behavior of ambassadors.) Witnesses also refrain from serving in the military, running for public office, and pledging allegiance to the flag. Voting is not expressly prohibited, but it is discouraged. The Watchtower, the official publication of the Jehovah's Witnesses, ran an article in 1999 suggesting that the decision whether to vote was one of personal conscience, although it carefully laid ...

RYB II - Leave Israel Alone
Duration : 254 Seconds

You can see part 1 by going here: www.youtube.com All USA presidents since UN 242 have supported Israel's right to protect its interest, that is, until May 19, 2011 when Barack Obama, in an official address, gave support to reestablishing the pre-1967 borders between Israel and Palestine. It appears the battle for a settled peace has taken a step backward. The scriptures read: "Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your descendants I will give this land..." (Genesis 12:7) "For all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever." (Genesis 13:15) "And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." (Genesis 17:7-8) The most relevant question is: Could or would Israel's enemies really be satisfied with a return to pre-1967 borders? The answer is a resounding "no" based on their own literature. They will only be satisfied with the complete destruction of Israel. Is President Obama's position to return to pre-1967 borders merely a lack of research and a working knowledge of the deep seated animosity between Jews and Arabs? Or is it a bold step to get Israel into a position of disadvantage? Thus, The world's geopolitical focus is fixated upon this struggling ...

Genocide by Raphael Lemkin
Duration : 214 Seconds

Raphael Lemkin born on June 24, 1900 was a Polish lawyer of Jewish descent. Before World War II, Lemkin studied the Armenian Genocide in depth and campaigned in the League of Nations to ban what he called "barbarity" and "vandalism". He is best known for his work against genocide, a word he coined in 1943 from the root words genos (Greek for family, tribe or race) and -cide (Latin for killing). He first used the word in print in Axis Rule in Occupied Europe: Laws of Occupation - Analysis of Government - Proposals for Redress (1944). Lemkin was born Rafał Lemkin in the village of Bezwodne in Imperial Russia, now the Vawkavysk district of Belarus. Not much is known of Lemkin's early life. He grew up in a Jewish family and was one of three children born to Joseph and Bella (Pomerantz) Lemkin. His father was a farmer and his mother a highly intellectual woman who was a painter, linguist, and philosophy student with a large collection of books on literature and history.
