This is a video clip of one of CitiHope International's missions in Malawi, Africa. CitiHope International is a not-for-profit organization that runs several programs in Malawi. Some of its programs are creating boreholes (village wells) in remote regions of Malawi, delivering rice to hungry children, training pastors to address HIV/AIDS, and supporting three United Methodist Churches in Northern Malawi that provide sanctuary to orphans and vulnerable children whose grandparents and older siblings are taken care of. London 29th May 2010 The Central London Humanist Group supported the protest "right 2 love", organized by activist Michael Nastari, asking the Malawian Government to release Steven and Tiwonge, outrageously sentenced to 14 years of jail with hard labour just for loving each other. The demonstration was followed by the great news that Steven and Tiwonge have been pardoned!! news.bbc.co.uk A few hundred people gathered in the rain outside the Malawi High Commission in a leafy street some way from the city centre. The crowd was enthusiastic and determined, high spirits could not be dampened. These people knew that they were surfing on a wave of historical necessity. Steven and Tiwonge, individuals for whom everyone expressed love and compassion, had also become symbols, in their incarceration and treatment, of the effects of a ruthless and repressive anti-human mindset which unfortunately can still be found in many countries. There was a determination here that this cruelty must be set aside. At the Rally there were speeches from religious people and from Marco Tranchino who spoke passionately and movingly on behalf of the Central London Humanists and the Humanist community worldwide. After being nursed back to health from the brink of death, 30-year-old Flora, who is HIV+, is now a part of the Baptist Clinics disaster risk reduction project, supported by Christian Aid. Using solar power to pump water to crops will help those living with HIV and caring for orphans to double the food they grow in the Senga Bay area, where child malnutrition rates are high.
