Some 60 Catholic men and women religious from around Africa worked a week at hammering out new initiatives to make their collective voice on behalf of the marginalized of the continent more effective. They work under the aegis of the Confederation of Congregations of Men and Women Religious of Africa and Madagascar. But while they work hard, the celebrate as well. At the end of one evening of cultural entertainment they joined the entertainers in music and dance.

This footage was recorded in 1999 at a spiritual revival camp, known as a Toby, in Southern Madagascar. The Nenilava Toby is one of the largest camps in Madagascar. The camp is part of the ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Madagascar (ELMC). The ELMC has a unique approach to spiritual and physical care of people who suffer from physical illness, mental illness, or demonic oppression. Through an indigenous revival movement known as the "Awakening" or "Shepherd's Movement," selected church members receive training as "shepherds," giving them skills for special ministries with the sick.
