This is the fifteenth ofmany chapters in History with a Twist of Lime's look on "The Historical History of Ancient Rome." This chapter peeks at three conflicts Rome was engaged in with the remnants of Alexander the Great's old empire in the late third and early second centuries BC. This includes the First Macedonian War (215-205 BC), where Philip V of Macedon allies with Carthage during the Second Punic War, and Rome merely goes and stirs up trouble within Macedon's borders in order to keep them occupied and away from Hannibal. This is followed up by Rome taking revenge in the Second Macedonian War (200-197 BC) and seemingly liberating Greece from Macedonian rule. The outcome of this conflict encourages King Antiochus III of the Seleucid Empire to invade and attempt to take Greece for himself, triggering the Syrian War (192-190 BC, also known as the Roman-Syrian War, the Seleucid War, or the War of Antiochus III). This fight sets up a short-lived peace with Macedon that would crumble with the death of Philip V. This is the sixteenth ofmany chapters in History with a Twist of Lime's look on "The Historical History of Ancient Rome." This chapter deals with the final conflicts Rome was engaged in with their two most-hated foes during the Republican era: the Macedonians in Greece, and the Carthaginians in North Africa. We began with the Third Macedonian War (171-168 BC), where the son of Philip V, King Perseus of Macedon, incites a revolt with the Greek city-states against Rome, which would only result in further Roman occupation of Greece. This causes the Fourth Macedonian War (149-148 BC), where pretender-king Andriscus and the Achaean League attempt one more revolution, only to have Rome destroy the city of Corinth and officially annex Greece, Macedonia, and Illyria. Concurrently, a dispute between Carthage and Numidia has Rome stepping in and declaring the Third Punic War (149-146 BC), where under the leadership of Scipio Aemilianus, the Romans sieged and decimated the city of Carthage, allowing for a province in Africa. History: The Third Macedonian War started in 171 BC, after a number of acts on the part of King Perseus of Macedon incited Rome to declare war. At first, the Romans won a number of small victories, largely due to Perseus' refusal to consolidate his armies. By the end of the year, the tide changed dramatically and Perseus had regained most of his losses, including the important religious city of Dion. Perseus then established himself in an unassailable position on the river Elpeus, in northeastern Greece. The next year, command of the Roman expeditionary force passed to Lucius Aemilius Paulus, an experienced soldier who was one of the consuls for the year. In order to force Perseus out of his position, Paulus sent a small force (8200 foot and 120 horse) under the command of Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Corculum to the coast, a feint to convince Perseus that he was attempting a riverborne flanking maneuver. Instead, that night Scipio took his force south and over the mountains to the west of the Roman and Macedonian armies. The commander notices the slave's self-discipline and offers to train him as a gladiator or charioteer, but Ben-Hur declines, declaring that God will aid him. As Arrius prepares for battle, he orders the rowers chained but Ben-Hur to be left free. Arrius' galley is rammed and sunk, but Ben-Hur unchains other rowers, saves the Roman's life and, since Arrius believes the battle ended in defeat, prevents him from committing suicide. Arrius is credited with the Roman fleet's victory, petitions Emperor Tiberius (George Relph) to free Ben-Hur, and adopts him as his son. With regained freedom and wealth, Ben-Hur learns Roman ways and becomes a champion charioteer, but longs for his family and homeland.

Second Balkan War - WW1 Macedonia 1913 -1919 World War I, First World War, the Great War, the War To End All Wars or the World War (prior to the outbreak of World War II). The Second Balkan war between Bulgaria and allied forces of Serbia, Greece, Romania and turkey was short but extremelly crude. Defeated Bulgaria was forced to capitulate. With Bucharest Peace Agreement in 1913, Macedonia was divided among Greece (34.350 square km), Serbia (25.000 square km) and Bulgaria (6.700 square km). Even Albania got a small piece. New Balkan political status quo did not last forever. Taking Aegean part of Macedonia in 1913, Greek political boundaries exceeded Greek ethnical boundaries. Majority in Aegean part of Macedonia was not of greek origin. Greece introduced the rule: there is no place for others except us. They immediately started to create a state with one nation, one language, a state on two continents and five seas. Greece introduced a policy of expelling Macedonians and colonizing with other nations in order to change Macedonian ethnical image of Aegean Macedonia and to create new Greek ethnical reality. This policy was perfomed by greek state using favorable historical situation from 1913 till 1919. During the First Balkan War, besides Muslims, Macedonians were under strong political, economic and psychic pressure by greek forces. I've got a whole load of videos coming out with my random thoughts about the armies of classical antiquity using EB to help me explain. Hopefully you will be interested. Keep in mind that this is the internet: don't take my words for granted. Research yourself and draw your own conclusions. I command a Macedonian Army, one that Alexander might have commanded. Keep in mind that I didn't have enough space to include more non-Macedonian units. I fight against an army of Greece complete with a mix of Hoplites from most of the City States. I forgot to mention that the Greek's have the royal hoplite bodyguard. The mod Europa Barbarorum has the best campaign experience and the battles are much better in the campaign as well.

After a Battle of Chaeronea the Theban Army was destroyed and most of the Theban Sacred Band (the 300 elite troops of Thebes) lay dead. The Athenian Army suffered a large loss as well. Now with hardly any soldiers left to defend central Greece, King Philip II of Macedon sent his 18 year old son Alexander to Athens to negotiate and bring an end to the fighting. Philip offered that in return of pledging allegiance to him and providing him soldiers and financial support for invading Persia, the Greek Poleis (City-State) that fought against him would be spared. The 2001 Macedonia War was an armed conflict which began when the ethnic Albanian KLA (UCK) terrorists group attacked the security forces of the Republic of Macedonia at the beginning of January 2001. The Albanian terrorists from KLA (UCK) are firing at anyone that moves in the parts of Tetovo . Fortified in the hills above Tetovo, they constantly get reinforcements from Kosovo, which is across the Shar Mountain. Their aim is to provoke ethnic Macedonians to turn against Albanian population of Macedonia, stage massacres and turn it into another Kosovo.
