In April 2012, US Embassy Skopje Macedonia staged a unique fashion show at the embassy to promote the Macedonian fashion and jewelry industries, and young designers. The show centered on the theme of Jazz was organized in partnership with the Skopje Fashion Weekend and the Association of Macedonian Fashion Designers. The embassy setting attracted many guests representing many sectors of society to see the exciting works of both young and rising designers as well as those of more established designers. Attending the event, the first of its kind in the Embassy's atrium, were Macedonian President and Mrs. Ivanov, Minister without Portfolio Samak, former President of the UN General Assembly Srgjan Kerim, Minister of Defense Besimi, as well as donors and 200 invited guests from the business, fashion, textile and media communities. In keeping with the evening's theme and Jazz Appreciation month, guests enjoyed both live and recorded jazz music throughout the evening. Ambassador Wohlers opened the "Jazz and Fashion" fashion show to kick off the annual Skopje Fashion Weekend. Models displayed the all-new pieces of 12 fashion designers and one jewelry designer beautifully. All the models were young, enthusiastic Macedonians; among the models was one who recently competed in the Super Model contest in Beijing.
