A quick vid of my newest purchase, it is a Lt. Col. SHAEF uniform from WW2. I am really excited to have it in my collection, it is a really nice piece. The concept of the medal was based on the French Croix de guerre and the medal is often referred to as the Luxembourg Croix de guerre. The Luxembourg War Cross was bestowed to both Luxembourg citizens and service members of the Allied Forces who liberated Luxembourg from German occupation. The Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, 50.5 acres in extent, is situated in a beautiful wooded area. The cemetery was established on December 29, 1944 by the 609th Quartermaster Company of the US Third Army while Allied Forces were stemming the enemy's desperate Ardennes Offensive, one of the critical battles of World War II. The city of Luxembourg served as headquarters for General George S. Patton's US Third Army. General Patton is buried here.

NBC transmitted this Memorial Day broadcast in 1947 from Hamm Cemetery in Luxembourg to the USA. In her speech, the Grand Duchess pays tribute to American soldiers who lost their lives in the war--especially those who fought in the Ardennes--and to General George S. Patton, who had been laid to rest at Hamm.

Thanks to all those who support Jefferson High School's World War II Senior Spring Break Europe Trip. We could not have gone without the amazing support we received from so many different businesses in and around Jackson County. Chaperons: Mr. Pittard, Ms. Smith, Mr. Elfer, and Ms. Davidson. The greatest four chaperons we could have possibly gone with! They were excellent guides, and full of fun the entire trip. Special thanks to Mr. Pittard, teacher of the World War II History class, who was our tour guide throughout the trip. Charlotte, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg (Luxembourgish: Charlotte Adelgonde Élise/Elisabeth Marie Wilhelmine vu Lëtzebuerg; Schloss Berg, 23 January 1896 Schloss Fischbach, 9 July 1985) was the second daughter of William IV, Grand Duke of Luxembourg and his wife Marie Anne of Portugal. Her maternal grandparents were Miguel of Portugal and Adelaide of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg. When her older sister Marie-Adélaïde, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, who had succeeded their father, was forced to abdicate on 14 January 1919, Charlotte became the one who had to deal with the revolutionary tendencies in the country. She was Grand Duchess of Luxembourg from 1919 to 1964. Unlike her sister, she chose not to meddle with its politics. In a referendum about the new constitution on 28 September 1919, 77.8% of the Luxembourgish people voted for the continuation of a Grand Ducal monarchy with Charlotte as head of state. In this constitution, the power of the monarch was severely restricted. During the German occupation in World War II, Charlotte, exiled in London, became an important symbol of national unity. She was the 366th Grand Cross of the Order of the Tower and Sword. After her death, she was interred in the Ducal Crypt of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in the city of Luxembourg.
