The event "East-East" was held in July 2002 in Kaunas, Lithuania. It was an international friendship event betweeen Lithuania and Japan trhrough a series of architecture events. There was an architectural exhibition held in the National Museum, along with the keynote speech by Ar. Fumihiko Maki, one of the leading international architect of our times. The exhibition featured 13 contemporary Japanese architects, including Kengo Kuma, Taro Ashihara, Chiaki Arai, Hidetoshi Ohno, Koh Kitayama, Tetsuo Furuichi, George Kunihiro, Hiroshi Naito, Tadasu Ohe, Ken Yokogawa, Kazuo Iwamura, Atsushi Kitagawara and Nobuaki Furuya. In 2009, the East-East 2 is being planned to be held in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Take a tour of Kaunas Town Hall in Kaunas, Lithuania -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Having been reconstructed multiple times throughout the centuries, the current structure is immensely different from its original form. It is rumored that it began as a one story building, followed by the addition of the 8-storied tower used to house prison inmates. Later on, an additional floor was built in Baroque style decor, along with notable sculptures of Lithuania's Great Dukes. Presently, the Town Hall stands in the Old City Square, and is used to host weddings, greet visitors and prestigious guests, as well as for official business.

Take a tour of Trakai Island Castle in Vilnius, Lithuania -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Built in three distinct phases, Trakai Island Castle outside Vilnius, Lithuania, dominates a small island on Lake Galve. The castle was built in the 14th century by a Lithuanian monarch, as his new primary residence and treasury. The castle suffered interminable damage during its first phase and was besieged twice after the assassination of its patron monarch. During the second part of construction, a chapel, an interior yard, and more defense structures were added. The foundation of the structure is primarily made of stone, while more accessible parts are made of red Gothic brick, giving it a Gothic and Romanesque look. The walls were made thicker during the third phase and the castle became a fortress and prison. In the aftermath of WWII, a significant reconstruction of the castle was undertaken, which led to it now being open to visitors year round.

555 KUBIK "How it would be, if a house was dreaming" The conception of this project consistently derives from its underlying architecture - the theoretic conception and visual pattern of the Hamburg Kunsthalle. The Basic idea of narration was to dissolve and break through the strict architecture of OM Ungers "Galerie der Gegenwart". Resultant permeability of the solid facade uncovers different interpretations of conception, geometry and aesthetics expressed through graphics and movement. A situation of reflexivity evolves - describing the constitution and spacious perception of this location by means of the building itself. The restoration is very unassuming both inside and out, though it has been completed with love and care. With it comes a book embedding the mill in a thorough way into its historical and landscape context. Roman Architecture (HSAR 252) Professor Kleiner features the baroque phenomenon in Roman architecture, in which the traditional vocabulary of architecture, consisting of columns and other conventional architectural elements, is manipulated to enliven building façades and inject them with dynamic motion. This baroque trend is often conspicuously ornamental and began to be deployed on the walls of forums and tombs in Italy already in the late first century AD But baroque architecture in Roman antiquity was foremost in the Greek East where high-quality marble and expert marble carvers made it the architectural mode of choice. At Petra in Jordan, tomb chambers were cut into cliffs and elaborate façades carved out of the living rock.
