this is one of hopefully many more video snippets from our first straightupbeautiful in Lithuania, November 15, 2008 where ~250 girls came from all over LT, some from Latvia, some from the US and even one from Budapest. We started off the conference with a fashion show. Fashion historian Alexander Vasilyev, collector, 2009, the Lithuanian fashion lovers held a exhibition of Victorian fashion. This year he is back with another exhibition of his collection - the Art Deco Style (1918-1939). Vilnius Museum of Applied Art 80 dresses on display, more than 200 accessories, as well as photos, paintings. Two decades-long inter-war art deco style of life led to the emergence of the first world war, and stifled by the Second World War. According to Alexander Vassiliev, art deco characterized by significantly shortened, slip dresses, straight silhouette, much more naked flesh, distinctive sheen. Why? Not only for beauty but also for pragmatic reasons.
