| | Ron Paul: Libyan War Is About Commercial Business and Unconstitutional Duration : 479 Seconds Before NATO aggression Libya has the highest living standard in Africa. The "United Nations Development Program (UNDP) confirms that the country has excellent prospects for achieving United Nations development goals by 2015. NATO's war will have already dashed those hopes. A collapse like the one in Iraq now threatens this African country. There has been little reaching the European public in the past few years about Libya, whose relationship with the West had normalized. European leaders met with their Libyan counterpart Muammar al-Gadhafi often, kiss his hand and business flourished. In the course of preparation for war, with help of obedient western media, the country was suddenly transformed into the most evil dictatorship. But if Libyan society can really be reduced to the "revolutionary leader" Gadhafi in Libya, is the situation really worse than in a hundred other countries and are there not many more factors that determine the living conditions of a country, besides Western-style "freedoms"? Even according to Amnesty International's country reports of human rights conditions, that of Libya differs little from many other countries; regarding the Arab allies in the NATO war alliance, such as Saudi Arabia, it is even much worse. The UN Human Rights Council has praised the country in its latest report on the "universal periodic review" of Libya, which was made late last year, even for its progress on human rights. | | Al-Aan: Younis Najem; Social Media Activist يونس نجم- الاعلام الالكتروني Duration : 413 Seconds مقابلة تلفزيون الآن مع يونس نجم - شاب ليبي ناشط في مجال الاعلام الالكتروني Summary Below: Younis Najem; a social media activist from Benghazi, Libya speaks about the role of social media in Libya. The situation in Libya differed from Tunis and Egypt specifically with regards to the revolution. Media in Libya was solely devoted to the state. There was no alternative media or channels form available. The only medium that allowed us (the youth) to express ourselves; to discuss our opinions and openly criticize the regime, was social media. The regime did not pay any regard to social media, Facebook, or Twitter. It was not perceived as a threat to the regime. The regime warned against the use of social media at the end of 2010 and the start of 2011 and only really paid attention to it at that point. It was only at this point that Gaddafi spoke out against its use. ***video cuts*** Returns at 3:45 I would like to emphasize Mohamed Nabbous's role during our revolution. He was the first citizen journalist to report the true nature of the regime crackdowns at the start of our revolution. His use of social media and skype were pivotal in our revolution. Question: Can we say that the use of social media only started with the revolution? The use of social media was not necessarily prominent before the revolution but it became a critical tool during the revolution. Many youth groups have formed since. For example many groups formed especially during the siege on Misrata including ... | | Considering Brutal Destruction of Iraq & Libya Russia Explains Veto on Resolution Against Syria Duration : 526 Seconds UK & Co brutal aggression against Libya with Syria in sight. What do you get when a British public schoolboy with a proven record of a seriously flawed judgment as regards choosing his advisers and choosing his policy gets embroiled in conflict in a tribal society utterly beyond his comprehension? You get David Cameron's 2 billion-pound nightmare withaggrssion against Libya. You also get the total destabilization of a country that was at peace, where the citizens lived in a full participatory democracy - the Jamahiriya system of government is far more democratic than a country like Britain where a Prime Minister voted for by a minority of his population gets to dictate policy and an obscurity like Clegg gets to be Deputy PM when he finished the race in third place. What sort of a democracy is that? What else do you get in Cameron's Libya? You get the full participation of Al-Qaeda and its leaders who had fought against NATO in Afghanistan and Iraq. One of NATO installed bloodthirsty rulers of Libya Al-Hasidi was even held in CIA secret prisons, you get the militarization of a tribal society, you get the destruction of Libyan society and you get a Somalia situation on the gates of Europe, festering with terrorists and Islamic fanatics. NATO's plans for Libya are an open wound on the southern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. NATO's and Cameron's legacy in Libya is horrific. The numerous war crimes have been well documented, rendering Cameron, Hague, Fox and their ... | | NATO Defies African Peace Attempts and Prefers to Bomb Libya (Moussa Ibrahim Press Conference) Duration : 893 Seconds In this first part of the press conference on May 31, 2011 Moussa Ibrahim defies western journalists: the hard questions are not asked: Why is NATO so vehemently against peace initiatives? Why do they think they have the right to call for democracy and the right of the Libyans on the one hand, while on the other hand they decide that Gaddafi has no role in this. As if they know for sure that Gaddafi has no support in Libya. The truth may be very different indeed. Original video: www.youtube.com (part 1) www.youtube.com (part 2) www.youtube.com (part 3) www.youtube.com (part 4) Africa is not respected as a serious voice, even though Libya is an African Country. Problems in Africa should be settled by Africans. Africa has the right to be respected. Rebels know they have no future in a transparant, democratic Libya for they have committed crimes against their Libyan brothers and sisters. They invited foreign intervention which kill many Libyans. Gaddafi is actually needed to make progress towards a new Libya. He is the safety valve of the country. If he - for any reason - would leave there will be an all-out war between the tribes mainly in the west, south and center against the Rebels in the East, because they do not want to sell out their country to the West. It would indeed be very dangerous to oust Gaddafi because it would remove the person able to hold the country together. He talks about the ship filled with weapons that arrived in Misrata in order to arm them in clear ... Tags :Gaddafi, Moussa Ibrahim, press conference, Libya, NATO
| | CNN Nic Robertson: Libyan woman bursts into hotel to tell her story of rape (Mar 26, 2011) Duration : 197 Seconds Breakfast at a Tripoli hotel housing international journalists took a decidedly grim turn Saturday when a desperate Libyan woman burst into the building frantic to let the world know she had been raped and beaten by Moammar Gadhafi's militia. Her face was heavily bruised. So were her legs. She displayed blood on her right inner thigh. She said her name was Eman al-Obeidy. She was well-dressed and appeared to be a well-to-do middle-aged woman. She spoke in English and said she was from the rebel stronghold of Benghazi and had been picked up by Gadhafi's men at a checkpoint east of Tripoli. She sobbed and said she was held against her will for two days and raped by 15 men. "Look at what Gadhafi's brigades did to me," she said. "My honor was violated by them." She showed the journalists how she had been tied at her wrists and ankles. She had visible rope burns. "We are all Libyans," the woman said. "Why don't you treat us the same?" CNN could not independently verify al-Obeidy's story but her injuries appeared consistent with what she said. Government officials quickly closed in to stifle her. But she persisted, wanting the journalists, staying at the Rixos Hotel, to see Gadhafi's brutality firsthand. International journalists, including CNN's staff, are not allowed to move freely in the Libyan capital and are escorted out of the hotel only on organized outings by government minders. This was the first time a Libyan opposed to Gadhafi attempted to independently approach the ... | | True NATO Mission in Libya to Kill Anyone Who Supports Gadhafi and Independence of Once Rich Nation Duration : 138 Seconds Libya, with its huge energy resources-proven reserves of 47 billion barrels of oil and 1.5 trillion cubic meters of natural gas - greatest in Africa -, large area (1.76 million square kilometers), and a small population (6.5 million), has become a prime target for Western imperialism recently. Imperialists have been on a feeding frenzy after that greatest barrier to their insatiable greed for domination and control over human and natural resources of rest of the world disappeared with collapse of USSR. Libya, under Moammar Gadhafi, had developed anti-imperialist positions and alliances in Africa and other parts of the world, and had also embarked on a largely non-capitalist path of social development, to which it gave a uniquely Libyan form, under the programs and objectives of the Green Revolution, as outlined in the Green Book and Green Charter. Few other countries lived in such a social comfort under Gadhafi, as Libyans did before NATO intervention. They had very good free health care system and treatment. Their state-of-art hospitals were providing the best medical equipment in the world. The education in Libya was free of charge. Talented youth have an opportunity to study abroad at the expense of Libya. After getting married, a couple can get more than 60 thousands dinar (50 thousand dollars) of financial help.
