In collaboration with Mayor Mary Broh, ONE Liberia has launched a program to beautify sites in Monrovia City by installing recreational parks for Liberia's youth. Cleanup and preparations at the first site, a GOL-designated park and recreation space at the Stephen Tolbert estates in Gardnersville, successfully began on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 1:00pm. Before the project began, the designated playground was used as a dumping site. MCC workers, ONE Liberia volunteers and the local community teamed up to launch the project, removing litter, cutting the grass, filling dump holes, and uprooting unwanted trees. The ONE Liberia Student League was also there to lend a hand, and ONE Liberia served food and water courtesy of Rozi's Restaurant and Aquarius Water respectively. Mary Mira Robson of White Rock became a part of a team traveling to Liberia in March 2010 and she came back stunned and humbled by the fact so little is being done to alleviate the problems. That's why Mary Robson decided to fund raise for the school and the camp by asking for $150.00 per child and year to cover the tuition fee.

Liberia's Fiestas Civicas take place every year fduring the last week of February to the first week of March. This Fiesta is organized by the Comite de Fiestas Civicas de Liberia and celebrate Liberia as well as the province of Guancaste's culture and tradition. The Fiestas begin at midnight with a "Bombetas" show (fireworks without the colors and with a lot more noise) and a Cimarrona playing typical Guanastecan music. Among the most popular activities are the daily horse parade (called Tope in Costa Rica) at Noon.

This truly one of the most dangerous jobs I have ever been on. My partner and I lived with head hunters for ten days. Traveling over 2000 miles in a jeep all over the Ivory Coast in Liberia. I was happy to get out alive. It is that kind of story that ledges are made out of.
