Jill Cadreau, a Peace Corps Response Volunteer of Chippewa heritage from Michigan, is currently serving in Liberia. She is part of the first group of Volunteers who re-entered Liberia after an 18 year absence to assist in the country's educational system. Jill teaches English and math to midwifery students with the Liberian Ministry of Health. She previously served in Mozambique as an education Volunteer. The music featured in this piece was recorded in Liberia with Volunteer Edward Solem and a group of local musicians.

Excerpt from Memoirs of a War-Child - a poetry collection. Since surviving a blood-spattered civil war in Liberia, West Africa, Meaza --Work has slowly begun to revisit the close kept memories that have been tucked away since the early age of eight. Through poetry, Memoirs of a War-Child examines the emotions that war survivors feel both during and after the blood dries up and the thousands of bodies are buried. While reading the passages, it is clear that war to Meaza-Work is literal as in the 8 year old that had to walk by dead bodies on the side of the streets, but it also is interpreted figuratively as in the boyfriend that took everything that she had and still told her she wasn't good enough.

An inside look at a jhr workshop in Banga, Liberia on human rights reporting. The workshop is facilitated by Rebecca Murray and Grant Fuller. In the Fall of 2008, jhr started a five-year project in Liberia. These projects are facilitated by the Liberia Media Centre (LMC), a local NGO and jhr's lead partner on the ground. jhr, in partnership with the LMC, is working alongside local journalists, editors, owners and NGOs to facilitate a number of programs aimed at spreading human rights awareness.
