In this clip Israeli soldiers open fire on a Lebanese journalist near the Shebaa Farms border with Israel. The Shebaa Farms is a small area of disputed ownership located at the border of Syria and Lebanon between the Lebanese village of Shebaa on the northwestern slopes of Mount Hermon, and the Golan Heights Israeli towns that it overlooks, such as Qiryat Shemona. The area is 14 km (9 mi) in length, and averages 2.5 km (2 mi) in width. Besides Anbar or perhaps Baghdad Shebaa is perhaps the most dangerous place in that part of the middle east, and one of the most dangerous places on earth. Aman (Israeli military intelligence) and the United States are reported to have sophisticated listening outposts in Shebaa for tactical military reasons. The UN regards Shebaa Farms as Syrian territory occupied by Israel, not Lebanese territory subject to Resolution 242. Israel's position emphasises that the area is not covered by UN Security Council Resolution 425, which governed Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon. The Shebaa Farms dispute provided the flashpoint for the 2006 Israeli invasion of Lebanon. This clip represents very rare footage from the region seldom seen in the West.

Lebanon PA 9/9/2010: The Lebanon branch of the PA Farm Bureau toured Limestone Springs Trout Hatchery in Richland, Lebanon County PA. Farmers and legislators learned about fertilization of fish eggs, frey, feed, and retail sales. Agriculture Secretary Redding also attended the event. There is also a stretch of the Tulpehocken Stream where people can fish by the hour for farm grown trout. It's a great place to take your children or grandchildren to catch dinner for the family.

Dr. Rami Zurayk, author of "Food, Farming and Freedom: Sowing the Arab Spring" discusses the role of agriculture and and food on people's daily lives in the Middle East. Dr. Zurayk is an agronomy professor at the American University of Beirut and a longtime activist for political and social justice. Born in Beirut during the 1958 US Marines' landing in Lebanon, he has witnessed two Israeli-Arab wars, one protracted civil war, one major Israeli invasion, one Israeli retreat and one Israeli defeat. He studied at AUB and at Oxford University. He has published over a hundred articles, monographs and technical reports on agriculture, food, environment and education.

We recently took a tour of Mt. Lebanon Farm, a new organic CSA in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. It was so inspirational to see this family's passion for providing healthy food not only for themselves, but for their community. Tasso, the husband of the couple who own the farm, showed us around. My personal philosophy on farming: Farming takes a lot of time and dedication. If something goes wrong, you have no one to blame but yourself. It's an enjoyable livelihood -- you get to be outside and work with animals and watch the seasons change; you're around your family and that's enjoyable. It's hard work but it's a privilege to do it.

After my explorations of Windsor on October 17, 2008 I headed over to Detroit where I embarked on a driving tour with Jeanette Pierce, co-founder of Inside Detroit, a non-profit organization that offers a wide range of thematic tours of Detroit. From Stroh River Place, a mixed-use development of converted Victorian warehouses, we headed to Belle Isle, Detroits urban island and leisure playground. After a visit to the upscale Indian Village and the Gleaner Food Bank, an example of urban farming, Jeanette took me to the Heidelberg Project, an outdoor art installation that features painted houses and artistic compositions made of discarded items. Artist Tyree Guiton originally conceived this project in the mid 1980s as a protest against the deterioration of his childhood neighbourhood. We were able to catch a brief interview with the creator of this now world-renowned project. After a brief stop at Detroits Eastern Market we drove through Midtown Detroit which is highlighted by various cultural and educational institutions including Wayne State University and the Detroit Institute of Arts. North of there is New Centre, which is distinguished by two 1920s architectural masterpieces: the Fisher Building and Cadillac Place, the former headquarters of General Motors.
