Come and join ''The Celotajs'' take a stroll through Esplanāde park. The Esplanāde park, one of Riga's largest public gardens, was laid out in 1772 on the site of a big millpond. In 1901, the Esplanāde park was the site of Riga 700 Anniversary. As we enter Esplanade park from Brīvības bulvāris and by the foot path next to the Russian Orthodox Cathedral we will see the statue of General Field Marshal Prince Michael Barcay de Tolly 1761-1818 in the background. As we move onto the paved foot path, we see a well kept and designed flower bed made up of many different colored flowers and plants laid out in a wave design running along the foot path. As we move on, we will see a closer view of the statue of General Field Marshal Prince Michael Barcay de Tolly. Moving on past the statue of General Field Marshal Prince Michael Barcay de Tolly, we will see the monument to Oskaram Kalpakam 1882-1919. Colonel Oskaram Kalpakam was the first commander of all Latvian forces and as such was one of the most outstanding defenders of Latvia during the critical days of establishing Latvian independence. This superb monument, which was unveiled on 22 June 2006, Heroes' Remembrance Day is the work of the sculptor Gļebs Panteļejevs and Andris Veidemanis. The monument, named Against the Current, symbolically shows the point of a sword that splits the hostile current. Kalpaka bulvāris is named in his memory. Gariunai market in Lithuania is one of the huge consumer markets that have grown out of 'the transition' in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe providing the 'new poor' with various cheap consumer products. Here you can buy shoes and clothes, kitchen equipment, toys and much else, usually imported from Turkey, China, the United Arabic Emirates or Poland by market traders themselves. Gariunai is the largest wholesale market in the Baltic region. An estimated 15000 traders make a living from the market, and at present buyers come from Latvia, Belarussia and Ukraine as well as from other towns in Lithuania. The market was established in 1990, and until a few years ago, customers would come from as far as Sibiria and the Asian republics. Lately, visa restrictions between the former Soviet republics have put an end to much of this 'inter-republic' travel.

Come join "TheCeļotājs" visit to the outside area of the Riga Dome "Riga City Council" City Hall Building located at Rātslaukums "Townhall Square" The present town hall was built in the 1960s.There has been a town hall on this site since 1334. The first one lasted for over 400 years, before being demolished in 1747. In 1750, a new one was built to the designs of Johann Friedrick Ettinger.This one was destroyed in World War II. The building is graced by the Figure of Justice and the Riga Coat of Arms. The heads of Riga, representing the town inhabitants, were mentioned in documents already in 1210. It is unknown when the first town council was formed, but the members of the town council took part in signing treaties in Riga in 1225. In the 13th century the town council governed the town and acted as legislature, but in the 14th century also as a judicial authority. At the same time the town council managed the town protection problems, imposed taxes, represented the interests of Riga's inhabitants in foreign affairs, signed agreements and appointed ambassadors. However, a communal assembly of Riga inhabitants preserved a great role in settling important and extraordinary problems. In the first half of the 13th century the councilmen of the town council were elected for one year, but at the end of the century already the town council itself selected successors to councilmen posts. Поход мы провели с людьми церкви "Божье царство". В Латвии как минимум три общины с таким названием. Поскольку есть разное мнение по поводу того, как должно христианам проводить выпавший на неделе выходной (и насколько глубок должен быть контроль пастора в этой области), не выставляю версию более высокого разрешения, а лишь эту, мобильную версию с весьма :( низким разрешением. После похода участники заснятых событий были радостны и довольны. Ещё через пару-три месяца выражали желание снова пойти в путешествие.
