Riga, the capital of Latvia is maybe the city in Europe with the vastest amount of original Art Nouveau architecture. I visited the Riga Art Nouveau Museum, the former flat of the Latvian architect Konstantīns Pēkšēns who lived here until 1907. If interested in the museum, you can visit its homepage: www.jugendstils.riga.lv Most of the buildings that we see in this film are made by the architect Mikhail Eistenstein. Among them are the famous Elizabetes iela 10b. The music is Gymnopedie nr. 1. by the French composer Eric Satie.

Uploaded by onkulis.com Promotional video "Sounds Like Latvia" features what could become a memorable trademark for the city of Riga - talking Art Nouveau statues that introduce Latvia as a place for fun, business and excitement. The fast-paced 5-minute video was produced by "Style masters studio" and presented to the Latvian media and diplomatic corps by Foreign Minister Artis Pabriks during a special preview presentation at the Berg Hotel on October 23rd. The musical video will be publicly available for viewing and down-loading on the LI web-site on October 27, 2006. The video was created for use by government governmental institutions, state agencies, embassies and nongovernmental organizations in conjunction with conferences, exhibits and other international events. Directed by Ivo Kalpenieks, the video expands on Latvia's tourism slogan "The Land that Sings" by conveying the sights and sounds of Latvian nature, business and tourism. Riga's familiar Jugenstil architecture comes to life as the distinctive stone faces introduce each segment of the video. Script writers - Ivo Kalpenieks and Ēriks Božis, director - Ivo Kalpenieks, music by Ğirts Bišs, cameramen - Andris Priedītis and Uldis Jancis, administrator - Laima Freimane.

The House of Blackheads was built by the Brotherhood of Blackheads as a guild for single German merchants. Take a tour of St. Peter Church in Riga, Latvia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Latvia's city of Riga is home to some truly beautiful architecture, including the Saint Peter's Church. A 236 foot-tall, tiered steeple is the most distinctive feature of this city's iconic church. Dating back at least 800 years, the church's first record was in documents from 1209. Saint Peter's is a unique blend of three architectural styles: Gothic, Romanesque, and Baroque. Though the building has had several reconstructions due to damage, it is in top form today. Beautiful views of Riga crown the top of the steeple, which is reachable by an elevator.
