These video clips were taken ten years ago and we sat far back in the hall so the video is a little jerky, but I feel it's worth putting up on our YouTube channel because I think the dancing and music represents an important part of Lao culture. This video was taken in 2000 shortly after the National Cultural Hall was opened and they featured a day of dancing and musical performances by different ethnic groups. This dance shows all the major rice activities, from planting rice to harvesting rice. And at the end of the dance a Hmong qeej player is featured who does some amazing acrobatics while playing the qeeq.
