| | Commie Lao Red Shirt "Architecture" -with Commentary Duration : 25 Seconds This is a clip of the hideous Thai Red Shirt "pig farm" along Rama-4 Road at BKK's Silom intersection -with my commentary. What you cannot experience is the smell of urine and feces (the encampment smelled like a sewer, because they defecated on the pavement). The lunatic Jeff Savage and "Seh Daeng" (aka "Braveheart", "Mel Gibson", "Quarter-Brain") squatted here, until Khattiya was euthanized -and naive delusional Brit Red Shirt pawn, "Jeff Sappy Savage" was arrested. | | Laos: Vientiane - 1893 -1975 Duration : 524 Seconds A first impression of Vientiane is of a sleepy, backwater city set on a bend in the Mekong River....... True..... Dig a little deeper, though, and you will find Vientiane has undergone many changes...... No better illustration of these changes than a look a her rich architectural heritage. Here I look at the French Colonial period to 1975. | | Wat Pha That Luang - Laos Duration : 319 Seconds Pha That Luang (Lao: ພຣະທາດຫຼວງ, IPA: [pʰā tʰâːt lwǎːŋ] 'Great Stupa') is a gold-covered large Buddhist stupa in the centre of Vientiane, Laos.[1] Since its initial establishment suggested to be in the 3rd century, the stupa has undergone several reconstructions until the 1930s due to foreign invasions to the area. It is generally regarded as the most important national monument in Laos and a national symbol. Pha That Luang according to the Lao people was originally built as an Indic temple in the 3rd century. Buddhist missionaries from the Mauryan Empire are believed to have been sent by the Emperor Ashoka, including Bury Chan or Praya Chanthabury Pasithisak and five Arahata monks who brought a holy relic (believed to be the breast bone) of Lord Buddha to the stupa.[2] It was rebuilt in the 13th century as a Khmer temple which fell into ruin. In the mid-16th century, King Setthathirat relocated his capital from Luang Prabang to Vientiane and ordered construction of Pha That Luang in 1566.[3] It was rebuilt about 4 km from the centre of Vientiane at the end of That Luang Road and named Pha That Luang.[2] The bases had a length of 69 metres each and was 45 metres high, and was surrounded by 30 small Stupas.[2] In 1641, a Dutch envoy of the Dutch East India Company, Gerrit van Wuysoff, visited Vientiane and was received by King Sourigna Vongsa at the temple, where he was, reportedly, received in a magnificent ceremony. He wrote that he was particularly impressed ... Tags :lao, laos, pha, that, luang, Vientiane

| | Xiang Khouang Laos in Thai TV Duration : 3596 Seconds Xiangkhouang (Lao: ຊຽງຂວາງ, meaning "Horizontal City") is a province of Laos, located in the Xiangkhouang Plateau, north-east of the country.[1] It was heavily bombed during the Vietnam War era. Originally known as Muang Phouan, the famous Plain of Jars is located here. Many people talk with a slightly different accent from the usual Vientiane accent. Lum Phuan is highly popular in this region. The capital is Phonsavan. While the origin of the Plain of Jars` people is unknown, the recorded history of Xieng Khouang is interlinked with the Tai Phuan. The Tai Phuan or Phuan people are a Buddhist Tai-Lao ethnic group that migrated to Laos from southern China and by the 13th century had formed the independent principality Muang Phuan at the Plain of Jars with Xieng Khouang (the contemporary Muang Khoun) as the capital. They prospered from the overland trade in metals and forest products. In the mid-14th century, Muang Phuan was incorporated into the Lan Xang Kingdom under King Fa Ngum.[2][3] The Phuan population were able to retain a high degree of autonomy although they had to pay tax and tribute to Lan Xang. During the 16th century expressive Buddhist art and architecture flourished. The capital was dotted with temples in a distinct Xieng Khouang style, ie simple low roofs with a characteristic 'waist' at the foundation. In 1930 Le Boulanger described it as 'a large and beautiful city protected by wide moats and forts occupying the surrounding hills and the opulence ... Tags :lao, laos, thai, thailand, xiang, khouang
