Fruit trees & their custodians
Duration : 204 Seconds

The mountainous area around Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is one of the centres of origin for traditional fruit tree varieties. Some of the trees are more than 500 years old but today are threatened by unsustainable farming practices, such as fuel gathering, land clearance, and the use of pesticides, while knowledge of traditional varieties is being lost. Smallholder farmers, with support from Bioversity International and partners, have now put these varieties at the heart of their communities. Meet some of the people who have become fruit tree custodians in this short video. Read 'Roots of People' to find out more about this project: www.bioversityinternational.org 'Fruit trees and their custodians' is one of the farmers stories in our series to mark Rio+20 - 'A fork in the Road - meeting farmers on the road to Rio'. Nomads-Shadows of the desert (trailer)
Duration : 136 Seconds

Nomadism is the oldest way of life. It wasn't until about 11000 years ago, with the introduction of farming and the domestication of wild animals, that human beings started to settle. And yet, in spite of this, nomadism still exists today and will certainly continue to exist in future since large parts of the Earth's surface cannot be used for anything other than nomadic herding. Salt Caravans in the Niger: Once a year, after the harvest of wheat in Timia´s oasis, situated in the Aïr Mountains, is done, the Kel Ewey who are a subgroup of the Tuareg nomads will traverse the merciless Ténére desert. Almost 600 km lie between Bilma and the paradise-like gardens of Timia. Bilma´s salt constituted a very important trading article at all times. Camel-Caravans carry the salt from Bilma to Agadez and from there further southward to Nigeria. Gold of the Himalayas: The Changpa nomads live cut off from the rest of the world on a barren plateau at an altitude of 4000 metres in the south east of Ladakh in the Himalayas. This inhospitable region, where the livestock has to search far and wide in order to prise something to eat out of the miserly earth, hides a special treasure: the Changpa goats grow a very fine wool under their coats, but only at extremely high altitudes and in extremely cold winters. It is then brushed out in the early summer and sold in the capital city as the precious Pashmina, the "Gold of the Changthang". Steppe Riders in Kyrgystan: "I have found my mission in ...

Sleepy Teens, Early Classes: Your Comments
Duration : 238 Seconds

I'm Alex Villarreal with the VOA Special English Education Report, from voaspecialenglish.com | http Last week, we talked about the conflict between sleepy teenagers and early morning classes. Many people commented on our website and Facebook page. For example, Damla Ece in Turkey wrote: I agree with the idea of starting lessons later so teenagers can feel better in the morning. But sleeping more than seven hours can be wasting time for students. Tran in Vietnam disagreed: I think teenagers, on the average, need eight to ten hours of sleep everyday. It's useless trying to force them to concentrate while they can't concentrate.Enilton Neymakes in Brazil goes to sleep late and wakes up in the afternoon and wrote: That's my life, but at least I am studying. Afshin Heydari from Tehran says schools should start early to avoid heavy traffic later in the morning. And Suze from Jordan wrote: When I was a teenager, I enjoyed taking my courses as early as possible. That way I could find a long time in the day to do my own activities. But Azra from Kyrgyzstan said the reason schools start early there is a lack of classrooms. Omid in Afghanistan calls teenagers the destiny-makers of a society. So they must be more alert and active in order to be more successful. And Joruji in Japan wrote: When I was a teenager, I used to get up before six to go to school, which was far from home, and I don't remember having problems. I think nowadays the Internet, TV games and cell phones make teens go ...

Through this topic, audiences are encouraged to inspect the invisible truth behind the food we eat, and through video art to contemplate and also respond to the mutual fate that the entire human race is destined to face. Terraria 1.1.1 - Presents!
Duration : 72 Seconds

Can we get 100 likes? :D More info below Presents are special drops available only during the Christmas holiday season (December 15th-31st), that have a chance to be dropped by any enemy except an enemy spawned by statues. Presents will even drop on worlds created prior to the 1.1.1 patch and lacking a snow biome. The chance to drop a present is 7.69% (1 in 13). They exist in three colors: Blue, Green and Yellow. Presents may only be opened when in a player's inventory; trying to open a present in a chest will not work. As all enemies have an equal chance of dropping presents, players who are specifically trying to acquire them should focus on areas with high spawn rates and easy enemies. Battle Potions and a Water Candle make more enemies spawn, as does fighting in the Jungle or during a Blood Moon. Players may also gather presents as a byproduct of other activities, for instance while farming Pixie Dust or Cursed Flames. An effective way to quickly farm presents is to fight the Eater of Worlds. Since each segment of this boss counts as an enemy, players that are powerful enough to destroy it with ease can obtain many presents provided the segments are destroyed where the player can collect their drops easily. The only downsides to this method are obtaining the needed materials to craft Worm Food and the difficulty the fight poses for less powerful players. Candy Cane Block, 50% (1 in 2) chance - can be made into Candy Cane Wall Green Candy Cane Block, 42.68% (3 in 7 ...

Demon's Souls: Maiden Astraea boss battle (World 5-3) the easy way!
Duration : 269 Seconds

The real boss here is Garl Vinland (Maiden Astraea's bodyguard) as Maiden doesn't attack you at all, even if you get right up in her face (Garl Vinland won't allow that though). As you enter the fog you will see a few worshipping depraved ones, ignore them as they will not attack you. As you enter you will see Garl Vinland blocking the path to the left, you can go down there and fight him head on if you wish, but that is the trickier way to deal with this boss battle (although it isn't too hard that way either). Instead head down the path to the right all the way to the next bunch of worshippers, and you will see Garl run back towards Maiden to protect her. From here you could arrow her, but you would lose all strength in the arrows from here so don't bother. Now backtrack the way you came, and down the path Garl was protecting and towards Maiden. As you approach Garl will approach you, but he will then back track. Get your free aim on Maiden and arrow her. She has a healing miracle she uses, but as long as you keep the arrows flying towards her she won't have time to heal herself enough. Once she is dealt with Garl is no longer a threat, so leave him (or fight him if you want) and head back to the Nexus. Don't forget to return straight away though, cos you will see Garl's body armour and shield lying there now, collect that as the Dark Silver armor and Dark Silver shiled has fantastic magic protection! --------------------- Let's Game in HD twitter.com
