The multimedia project "OEDIPUS" is a search for new theatrical formats and a co-production between Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The film is accompanied by live music by Tashkent rock band Tears of Sun and the live voices of the characters are in three languages - Turkmen, Kyrgyz and Russian. It was performed at the Chingiz Aitmatov State National Russian Drama Theatre, Bishkek.

Sayakbay Karalaev (1894-1971), who is called the "Homer of the twentieth century," was one of the last "chong manashchys" from whom the Manas trilogy (Manas, Semetei, and Seitek), consisting of half a million poetic lines, was recorded. Saiakbai Karala uulu mostly known as Karalaev, was born in the Issyk-Köl region of northern Kyrgyzstan. His family was poor and they had to work for wealthy Kyrgyz to earn their living. Karalaev began reciting Manas when he was about sixteen to seventeen years old. His grandmother played a key role in instilling the "seeds" of Manas in her grandson. Karalaev heard the main stories of Manas from her. Well-known or great manaschys like Saiakabai Karalaev usually did not say that they learned Manas from someone or previous master-singers. Becoming a great manaschy involved some kind of spiritual transformation of the singer who had a vision by seeing a special dream in which he was visited by the hero Manas himself or by other main characters in the epic. Saiakbai Karalaev also connected his singing of Manas with a visionary dream. He saw that special dream in his early twenties. His dream is described in the following way: "On his way from Semiz-Bel to Orto-Tokoy, he saw a white yurt in place of an old big black rock. He became very scared from the loud noise that came from the sky and fainted. He then woke up and entered the yurt where he was offered food by Kanļkei, the wife of Manas. Wastelander Panda, by Adelaide's Epic Films, has attracted created a huge stir in the internet community, with over 100000 views since it was put online. The three-minute film, which is a live-action tale of the last remaining panda in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, has prompted comparisons to iconic films Mad Max, The Road and The Book of Eli. Written and directed by Victoria Cocks, Wastelander Panda was created as a prologue for a television series that the team at Epic Films has been developing for the last year. Since being uploaded on Tuesday, the film has been featured on the front page of popular websites such as Buzzfeed, io9, Gizmodo and Neatorama, and caught the attention of Hollywood writer Gary Whitta. "As well as the interest on blogs, we've had Twitter users commenting about Wastelander Panda in several different languages. Gary Whitta, writer of The Book of Eli, saw the film, and sent us a message saying "I enjoyed it a lot, very cool!" Even YouTube tweeted the film to their 8 million followers," said Cocks. "The most exciting thing has been reading the comments and emails from fans who loved what they saw and are asking us how they can help fund future episodes. We've been looking at the stats from the video, and it's been seen in over 140 countries, including some as obscure as Moldova, Kyrgyzstan and Greenland.
