"Highway of Death" Iraqi Army Armed Retreat from Kuwait 1991
Duration : 231 Seconds

The Highway of Death refers to a road between Kuwait and Basra on which retreating units of the Iraqi army as well as Iraqi civilians were attacked and destroyed by American aircraft and ground forces during the United Nations Coalition offensive in the Gulf War, on the night of February 26-February 27, 1991, resulting in the destruction of hundreds of vehicles and the deaths of an unknown and disputed number of Iraqi soldiers and civilians. The scenes of carnage on the road are some of the most recognizable images of the war. According to Elaine Sciolino of the New York Times, the images suggested a turkey shoot and contributed to the war's resolution soon afterwards. American attacks were conducted on two different roads: some 1400-2000 vehicles hit on the main Highway 80 north of Al Jahra (the "actual" Highway of Death) and, few days later, another 400-700 or so on the much-less known coastal road to Basra. On the main highway, aircraft bombed the front and rear of the massive vehicle column of Iraqi Regular Army, trapping the convoy, and leaving sitting targets for later airstrikes. When visited by journalists the main highway had been reduced to a long uninterrupted line of destroyed, damaged, and abandoned vehicles, sometimes called the Mile of Death. The wreckage predominantly consisted of stolen civilian vehicles (such as cars, trucks, and buses) which were manned by Iraqi conscripts and the Palestinian fighters, accompanied by their family members fleeing the ...

Part 1 - Operation Desert Storm "The Persian Gulf War"
Duration : 601 Seconds

The Persian Gulf War or Gulf War (also known as the mother of all battles August 1990 28 February 1991)[7][8] was a conflict between Iraq and a coalition force from 34 nations[9] authorized by the United Nations (UN) but led primarily by the United States and the United Kingdom in order to return Kuwait to the control of the Emir of Kuwait. The conflict developed in the context of the IranIraq War and in 1990 Iraq accused Kuwait of stealing Iraq's oil through slant drilling.[10] The invasion of Kuwait by Iraqi troops was met with immediate economic sanctions against Iraq by some members of the UN Security Council, and with immediate preparation for war by the United States of America and the United Kingdom. The expulsion of Iraqi troops from Kuwait began in January 1991 and was a decisive victory for the coalition forces, which took over Kuwait and entered Iraqi territory. Aerial and ground combat was confined to Iraq, Kuwait, and bordering areas of Saudi Arabia. Iraq also launched missiles against targets in Saudi Arabia and Israel in retaliation for their support of the invading forces in Kuwait. Since the IranIraq War of 198088 had been called the "Persian Gulf War" by many news sources, the 1991 war has sometimes been called the "Second Persian Gulf War", but more commonly, the 1991 war is styled simply the "Gulf War" or the "First Gulf War", in distinction from the 2003 invasion of Iraq.[11] "Operation Desert Storm" was the coalition name of the air and land ...

Operation Desert Storm: The First Gulf War 1
Duration : 900 Seconds

On the morning of August 2, 1990 the mechanized infantry, armor, and tank units of the Iraqi Republican Guard invaded Kuwait and seized control of that country. The invasion triggered a United States response, Operation DESERT SHIELD, to deter any invasion of Kuwait's oil rich neighbor, Saudi Arabia. On August 7, deployment of US forces began. United Nations Security Council Resolutions 660 and 662 condemned Iraq's invasion and annexation and called for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Iraqi forces. On August 20 President Bush signed National Security Directive 45, "US Policy in Response to the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait," outlining US objectives - which included the "immediate, complete, and unconditional withdrawal of all Iraqi forces from Kuwait," and the "restoration of Kuwait's legitimate government to replace the puppet regime installed by Iraq."1 A UN ultimatum, Security Council Resolution 678, followed on November 29, 1990. It stipulated that if Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein did not remove his troops from Kuwait by January 15, 1991 a US-led coalition was authorized to drive them out. Early in the morning of January 17, Baghdad time, the US-led coalition launched air attacks against Iraqi targets. On February 24, coalition ground forces begin their attack. On February 27, Kuwait City was declared liberated, and with allied forces having driven well into Iraq, President Bush and his advisers decided to halt the war. A cease-fire took effect at 8:00 the ...

An Oily war - Kuwait
Duration : 881 Seconds

March 1996 We profile the oil rich state of Kuwait. Metal towers, topped by roaring flames, rise up out of a flat, gravely desert. This is one of Kuwait's many oil fields. In less than 5 years the black, viscous substance that took Kuwait and the West to war re-built Kuwait city. In defence of Kuwait's promise to introduce democratic reform after the war, a member of the ruling Al Sabah family rejects 'Western democracy' but maintains that open debate operates through parliament, the press and private gatherings. In opulent tents and gilded palaces, the ruling elite of Kuwait meet to play cards and to discuss sex, religion and politics. By Arab standards, this offers a model of political freedom. Kuwaitis are a minority in their own country. They live off the menial work of 'guest workers'. Before the war, 400000 Palestinians were part of this workforce until Yasser Arafat's dealings with Saddam Hussein turned them all into collaborators. Near the Iraqi border, a UN force from Bangladesh, one of the poorest nations, holds fort for one of the richest. All the ceremonial garb and military band playing does little to diminish the threat that Saddam Hussein still poses for this small country. How To Go To Heaven: www.jesus-is-savior.com www.infowars.com Ron Paul Enters Evidence of Bush War Crimes in Congressional Record Kurt Nimmo Infowars.com February 4, 2011 Rep. Ron Paul read the text below into the Congressional Record earlier this year. Paul's statement provides additional evidence to the established fact the globalist, bonesman, and former CIA director George Bush Senior duped Saddam Hussein, exploited his dispute with Kuwait -- accusing Kuwait of slant drilling its oil -- and gave Hussein a green light to attack Kuwait. From the Congressional Record, January 26, 2011, Page H503. It was posted on the Veterans Today website. "The SPEAKER pro tempore. Under a previous order of the House, the gentleman from Texas (Mr. Paul) is recognized for 5 minutes. Mr. PAUL. Mr. Speaker, how did the 20-year war get started? It had been long assumed that the United States Government, shortly before Iraq invaded Kuwait in August of 1990, gave Saddam Hussein a green light to attack. A State Department cable recently published by WikiLeaks confirmed that US Ambassador April Glaspie did indeed have a conversation with Saddam Hussein one week prior to Iraq's August 1, 1990, invasion of Kuwait. Amazingly, the released cable was entitled, "Saddam's Message of Friendship to President Bush." (published below) In it, Ambassador Glaspie affirmed to Saddam that "the President had instructed her to broaden and deepen our relations with Iraq." As Saddam Hussein outlined Iraq's ongoing ...

FAKED 15-YO KUWAITI GIRL TESTIMONY
Duration : 367 Seconds

Nayirah al-Ṣabaḥ (Arabic: نيره الصباح‎), called "Nurse Nayirah" in the media, was a fifteen-year-old Kuwaiti girl, who alleged that she had witnessed the murder of infant children by Iraqi soldiers in Kuwait, in verbal testimony to the US Congress, in the run up to the 1991 Gulf War.[1] Her testimony, which was regarded as credible at the time, has since come to be regarded as wartime propaganda.[2] The public relations firm Hill & Knowlton, which was in the employ of Citizens for a Free Kuwait, had arranged the testimony. Nayirah's testimony was widely publicized.[44] Hill & Knowlton, which had filmed the hearing, sent out a video news release to Medialink, a firm which served about 700 television stations in the United States.[45] That night, portions of the testimony aired on ABC's Nightline and NBC Nightly News reaching an estimated audience between 35 and 53 million Americans.[43][45] Seven senators cited Nayirah's testimony in their speeches backing the use of force.[Note 1] President George Bush repeated the story at least ten times in the following weeks.[1] (Wikipedia) Her father was the Kuwaiti ambassador to the USA; he is sitting right next to her during the hearing but he pretends not to know her. How To Go To Heaven: www.jesus-is-savior.com news.antiwar.com Glaspie Memo Leaked: US Dealings With Iraq Ahead of 1990 Invasion of Kuwait Detailed Ambassador Assured Saddam of Bush's Friendship at July 25 Meeting by Jason Ditz, January 02, 2011 One of the crown jewels of secret pre-Gulf War negotiations was unveiled tonight when the notorious Glaspie Memo, or as it is now known 90BAGHDAD423, was released by WikiLeaks The cable, whose official title was "Saddam's Message of Friendship to President Bush" details the meeting between US Ambassador April Glaspie and Saddam Hussein on July 25, 1990, just a week before the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. The meeting has long been a matter of speculation, as it had long been speculated that comments by Glaspie had led Saddam to believe that the United States was giving them the green light to invade Kuwait if diplomacy failed. The memo reveals indeed Hussein expressing concern about the Bush Administration's position on Iraq owing to its participation in military exercises with the United Arab Emirates and pledges to "defend its allies" in the region. He complained the US pledges were making Kuwait and the UAE refuse to negotiate with Iraq. He also expressed concern about negative media coverage in the US, which Ambassador Glaspie assured him did not reflect US policy and singled out a Diane Sawyer report on "nuclear bomb triggers" for condemnation. Rather Glaspie assured Saddam of Bush's friendship and expressed support for the ...
