3rd week of Korean War - 44th division and South Korean army on the front part I | Combat Bulletins
Duration : 1733 Seconds

The Korean War (25 June 1950 -- armistice signed 27 July 1953) was a military conflict between South Korea, supported by the United Nations, and North Korea, supported by the People's Republic of China (PRC), with military material aid from the Soviet Union. The war was a result of the physical division of Korea by an agreement of the victorious Allies at the conclusion of the Pacific War at the end of World War II. The Korean peninsula was ruled by Japan from 1910 until the end of World War II. Following the surrender of Japan in 1945, American administrators divided the peninsula along the 38th Parallel, with United States troops occupying the southern part and Soviet troops occupying the northern part. The failure to hold free elections throughout the Korean Peninsula in 1948 deepened the division between the two sides, and the North established a Communist government. The 38th Parallel increasingly became a political border between the two Koreas. Although reunification negotiations continued in the months preceding the war, tension intensified. Cross-border skirmishes and raids at the 38th Parallel persisted. The situation escalated into open warfare when North Korean forces invaded South Korea on 25 June 1950. It was the first significant armed conflict of the Cold War. The United Nations, particularly the United States, came to the aid of South Korea in repelling the invasion. A rapid UN counter-offensive drove the North Koreans past the 38th Parallel and almost to ...

Go Auburn! Funny Video - War Eagle From South Korea! 2011 BCS Championship Game
Duration : 324 Seconds

It's true: Chris Lowe is an Auburn alumnus, he is an English teacher in South Korea, and he taught hundreds of his students some of his favorite Auburn chants and cheers to celebrate the Tigers playing in the BCS Championship. However, this video is a fictional comic take based on Chris' love for all things Auburn. No, he did not actually name any of his students Bo, Jackson, Cam or Newton. He has not been teaching his students about Auburn football all semester long. Oh, but one more thing is true; Chris and all his students wish Auburn good luck against Oregon in the national title game. Note: This video is the sole property of Lauren Bercarich. I encourage you to share this video! It may be broadcast and distributed without prior consent. www.LaurenBercarich.com www.LaurenInAsia.com Funny Auburn Teacher video

South Korea trains N Korea 'intellectual troops'
Duration : 165 Seconds

Since the Korean War ended in 1953, 20000 North Koreans have defected from the North to the South. Some of them have been hand-picked for a leadership academy. The partly government-funded programme aims to train 1000 so-called "intellectual troops" who, in the event of a collapse of the Pyongyang regime, would go home and help rebuild North Korea based on the South's model. Al Jazeera's Harry Fawcett reports from Seoul, the South Korean capital.

But ironically, the biggest threat to the village comes from peace. Currently, residents pay no taxes or rent and homes are subsidised by the South Korean government. Duration : 1647 Seconds

The armistice negotiations continued for two years, first at Kaesong (southern North Korea), then at Panmunjom (bordering the Koreas). A major, problematic negotiation was prisoner of war (POW) repatriation. The PVA, KPA, and UN Command could not agree on a system of repatriation because many PVA and KPA soldiers refused to be repatriated back to the north, which was unacceptable to the Chinese and North Koreans.0 In the final armistice agreement, a Neutral Nations Repatriation Commission was set up to handle the matter. A collection of over 200 historical newsreels. Each newsreel runs approximately 3 minutes and covers the most important events of the first half of the 20th century.
