Take a tour of Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, Korea, Republic of -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. South Korea boasts the Hwaseong Fortress which lies in the country's Suwon region. Built in the 1790's, this grand monument took about 2 and a half years to complete. Bricks were used in the construction of the fortress, which can be easily seen throughout the structure. The distinguishing features of Hwaseong Fortress are its defensive elements which include an arrow-launching platform, battlement, and crenelated parapets. Its basic layout and designs were based on a relatively new system in architecture known as the Silhak movement. The fortress embodies an amalgam of designs from the 3 countries of Korea, China and Japan, fused with elements of contemporary architectural science.

This ceremony is in the main worship hall at Guinsa, the head temple of the Korean Cheontae Buddhism sect, nestled into the Sobaek Mountains located near Danyang South Korea. The architecture of Guinsa is similar to that of many other Buddhist temples in Korea, but differs in that the structures are several stories tall, rather than the typical one or two storied structures found in most other Korean Buddhist temples.

Everland Resort is a theme park in Yongin, a suburb of Seoul, South Korea. It's the largest theme park in South Korea. In 2002, it ranked sixth in the world for amusement park attendance. It also includes a zoo and a water park called Caribbean Bay. Everland is operated by Samsung which is a subsidiary of the Samsung Group. Everland is often compared to Disneyland by those who have visited both parks, as some consider the architecture, scale, themes and general atmosphere to be very similar.

Covering over 1.5 million square meters and the ancient site of the Mongchon Toseong Fortress (with its moat dating back to the early Baekche Kingdom), Olympic Park preserves the spirit of the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The stadiums, arranged in a fan-shaped pattern around the park, were the main stages for the sports events. With extensive grassy fields, sculpture gardens, walking paths, and rest areas, the park is open all day as a multi-purpose area for leisure, sports, and cultural activities. Seoul Olympic Museum Commemorative monuments and the Seoul Olympic Museum preserve the inspiration of the Seoul Olympics. World Peace Gate, "Rendezvous in Seoul," and the "Wall of Glory" are included with various other items in the Seoul Olympic Museum and will remain as a great legacy to it's Korean descendants. Over 200 sculptures made by 155 world-renowned artists are scattered around the park. The World Peace Gate The imposing steel frame and reinforced iron structure is 24 meters high, 37 meters wide, and 62 meters in length. The structure's wing-shaped design evokes both beauty and majesty. By bringing together elements of traditional and modern architecture, the architect conveys the images of a leap forward and of ascension. The lower side of the structure's wing-lke ceiling contains paintings of various symbolic forms including a blue dragon, a phoenix, tiger, and turtle. Thanks for watching. This place was fun to see.
