This is the place where both the North's and the South's soldiers stare each other down and occasionally shoot each other. Naturally its all good fun and so we roll with it. Afterwards some talk about the Concrete Wall which supposedly cuts Korea in half (but we never see it, so I call "bullshit"), and a visit to an awesome gift shop where we are encouraged to drop more Euros.

TV Broadcast of the entire "Ever-victorious Workers' Party of Korea" held at the May Day Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea on September 4, 2001. Certainly the TV broadcast wouldn't do justice to actually being there and witnessing over 100000 performers. This was pretty hard to find on the internet and very few people will ever see this outside of the DPRK, let alone travel to north korea to see their mass games.

During the drive home we enjoyed a nice propaganda cartoon. A brief look at the indoctrination of children into the system, and then back to Pyongyang.

He captures a rare insight into the negotiations between CARE and the government Relief Committee, who complain CARE is not helping enough. The obsessively secretive government wants to direct all aid to the fertile rice bowl areas around the capital, because productivity here is highest. Then they will then be able to feed the starving in the country's north. Williamson disagrees and is granted a rare permit to travel north to judge for himself. The team break the schedule and visit a nursery of their choosing. Here the hungry children are lacklustre and silent. Officially banned from filming in hospitals, desperate doctors allow the camera in. Hungry mothers are supposed to supply food for their children. A family with no men starve more than their more productive neighbours. If you don't work, it seems, you don't eat. This is no socialist famine. The government says the north is not a farming area and shouldn't get aid first. CARE says aid should go to the starving. North Korean Rocket FAILS shortly after launch A North-Korean carrier rocket took off at 7:39 am local time on Wednesday. However, the launch has been confirmed to have failed. The North American Aerospace Defend Command (NORAD) says the first stage of the rocket fell into the sea, while the other two stages failed. And a North Korean news agency has acknowledged that the country's satellite failed to enter orbit, and that scientists and technicians are searching for the cause of failure. Earlier the country's space agency said it had no information on the launch, according to South Korean media. The South Korean army said the rocket debris crashed some 200 kilometers (125 miles) off the western coast of South Korea, Reuters reports. Japanese Defense Minister Naiki Tanaka said the rocket appears to have flown for one minute before collapsing into the Yellow Sea. And that would be incomplete without a visit to the Chollima Movie Studios where myself and Ian shot a short patriotic movie for the Koreans. Then some more propaganda awesomeness...
